This Week In MMO blasts at you again with the latest and greatest MMORPG news! Gary Gannon and Mike B propagate their expert opinions on everything from Lineage II to TERA. When you’re looking for the real information behind the MMO news, you must stop by GAMEBREAKER to watch TWIMMO.

Our top story tonight asks, “How much sleep will the GAMEBREAKER crew get next week?” The answer, of course, is zero! Star Wars: The Old Republic announced just before the show started that it will launch its early access two days pior to its original schedule. Call your boss now because you’re going to be “sick” earlier than you expected. TOR fans, start your download now; the world’s most anticipated MMO starts its early access on December 13th. Mike B proclaims that even if this game hadn’t sold a lot of copies, it would be a great marketing scheme to make us think they had. Gannon suggested that maybe the beta testing went better than expected, and BioWare is completely ready to launch. We will all find out in just a few days!

Other than SWTOR, the internet has been teeming with MMO news. Lineage II is launching a free-to-play model. End of Nations is ready for beta testing. TERA talks glyphs. And oops, Final Fantasy XIV will actually start charging a sub. You do not want to miss a minute of This Week In MMO!

If you have not caught the latest MMO commentary, then you will want to catch last week’s TWIMMO episode with Mint Chip. No, not ice cream; it’s a person.

FF14 is the worst MMO ever published. The entire Final Fantasy IP has been irrevocably damaged by this trash. I’m not sure if this company is too proud to admit a failure or what, but the sooner they make this game disappear the sooner they can get back to making quality single player RPGs.

i would absolutely NOT pay 7$ a month to play that game regardless of what has changed, i watched about 2 hours of combined gameplay on the Yogscast youtube channel and i wouldn’t touch that game with a 50 ft poll.

I paid monthly to play in the Hellgate: London “beta,” and I swore I would never do it again. FF14, just shut down and get sold to the Koreans, already.

The funny thing is people will still play FF14 yes you all right the sub is 7 bucks but its 6.99 as well $3.00 per character ID in order to play just shy 1 cent of 10 bucks at 9.99
I think it was a good game to pop into from now and then only time will tell.
Players from now intill 2.0 hoping to put in good feedback to make ff14 the way it was made to play
    like 11 lol
But im sure SE still plan on from now intill will put out 2.0 with or without subs unless like OMG like 100 people playing and maybe thay will get the hint

Payin’ $7 a month for an already busted game seems like a “Paid Beta.”  I’ll pass, shows over, nothing to see here….

Hater`s gonna hate. Why do ppl hate games that have a sub?  the sub means the game can use it for updates, patches and ex packs. I have payed for 2 WoW accounts for years and ppl are bitching over 1 sub and whines about it, if you cant pay for a game, dont play it !

As described, Tera’s glyph system sounds similar to the enhancement system in CoH. Even beyond that, slight reductions in cool-down or the cost of resources have been among the most common ways of improving a characters abilities for over a decade. I have no idea how this system will play, but it doesn’t sound all that revolutionary to me.

MMORTS – Check out Shattered Galaxy. Old game that was made after Starcraft that built an awesome PvP experience. If End of Nations is anything like SG, it will be amazing.

Sadly SG hasn’t  been updated in like a decade.

Shattered Galaxy was one of those games I could not stop going back to. Very fun and unique. The End of Nations discussion also had me thinking about it

Gary is colorblind.  It’s a blue dragon for sure.  Not that that makes the trailer or game interesting.  Another nitpick – the dude telling the story said the “dead came walking,” RIGHT after which you see undead Jogging or running across the bridge.  And, as we all know, when the undead appear to be jogging, they’re actually at a dead sprint.

I feel that the MMO which people are really waiting for is essentially Eve Online, but “on the ground”. Planetside 2 comes to mind, but I’m unsure whether it will be able to replicate the sense of being part of such a large game society which Eve masters so well.

I won’t be playing FFXIV again until they implement the standard UI for playing with a mouse and keyboard–which won’t be till early 2013 according to their FFXIV 2.0 timeline.  I played FFXI for a year before WoW was released, but that was when I had to play on my PS2 because I didn’t have a computer.  I got into WoW a few months after it’s release and immediately ended my FFXI sub.  I was looking forward to FFXIV before it launched because of the casual element and being able to solo all the way up, but it was horrid.  I got the game and didn’t even get thru my free 30 days before I canceled my sub and uninstalled the game and went back to playing WoW.  I currently have pre-ordered SW:TOR and I am very much looking forward to early launch. :)  I see myself playing SW:TOR for the next year or two and maybe by then I’ll be up for giving FFXIV 2.0 a try.
