Anime, video game characters, pop stars: we got ‘em all! Each and every week we highlight some of the best Cosplay pics around.

Today we have a mixed bag of pics…enjoy cosplayed Cosplayed

  • BabyChooChoo

    Another stellar week of cosplayin’

Normally I feel there’s a few bad or ‘meh’ pics, but I thought everyone looked great this week. If I had to pick a #1 though, my Darkstalkers fandom immediately kicks in and I’d have to with Lilith (last pic).

lady from DMC is very well done imo, she only needs the sunglasses from DMC 4 to be perfect

I dont understand this “cosplay” and how this relates to games? Is this some kind of anime fetish or something? lol not trying to troll but i never understood this stuff with the exception of the comic con. Apoligies to anyone offended

a lot of them are cosplaying characters from games.

    • Brozathon

lol yes its a dirty dirty fetish disguised by being “artistic”.. plenty of men are fapping away as we type…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robbert-de-Wilde/1806039882 Robbert de Wilde

Mostly attention seeking chicks that show off way to much boob, ass and what not by displaying their “favorite” game character. It’s severely overrated, unnecessary and really has very little to do with us gamers. Basically an excuse for guys to look at hot girls and pretend it means something. It’s like e3 and booth babes, fucking silly.

And, your point sir? League of Legends have very little to do with me, but I tolerate the content on Gamebreaker, because I know some people like it.

Well most of them are cosplaying as video game characters. People cosplay for a bunch of different reasons and if you generalize them like Robbert here and his theory that they’re all attention whores or Brozathon who thinks there are hordes of girls who cosplay to appeal to a small minority of men and their fetish, then you’re really being narrow minded about it. Pretty down right cynical. I need not mention how messed up it is that people on a video gaming website would criticize them to begin with. I’m sure their lives are so much more fascinating.

I’ve worked at a video gaming convention for 5 consecutive years now and I’ve watched the cosplay crowd grow pretty significantly. Pretty funny watching someone play a game using the character they’re dressed as. The cosplay crowd are actually very genuine and nice people. Contrary to popular belief most of them don’t cosplay to show off their skin. A lot of them put a lot of hard work into their costumes and it’s pretty sad that people put them down. It’s just a hobby that like minded people can participate in. No different than a bunch of people getting together and streaming a Gamebreaker video.

Let’s be serious, here: cynicism is realism with added criticism. There’s nothing cynical about Robbert’s response, because there’s no truth or realism to it. I know plenty of people who cosplay. They do it, because it’s fun for them. Some of us spend our money on building computer systems, buying better amps for guitars, upgrading high-tech software, tricking out our cars, etc. They spend money on going to big cons and dressing up as their favorite characters.

Honestly, this is a website for video gamers. I could easily say that everyone on this site are a bunch of heathens that live in their parents basements at the age of fourty, have no social skills, never see the sun, have hazardously poor hygiene, and think the epitome of intelligence is seeing who can come up with the most clever “anal ” post in Trade. That characterization is no more accurate than Robbert’s. Though, given his viewpoint, I could say at least part of that characterization may or may not fit him to a T.

I agree with you for the most part. Robbert’s view is cynical in the sense that he sees the cosplay crowd in a narrow minded and negative perspective. Lol you caught me. I stereotyped gamers as people who don’t live interesting lives and that was pretty hypocritical of me.
Yes, we could say that about video gamers but we don’t because you and I know better. We both know there are many different people who live many different lives that make up the video gamer identity. Regardless of whether or not Robbert falls into the category of the stereotypical gamer is unimportant. Even if we did profile him that way, it does not give him any justification for him to belittle a group of people and paint them with a broad brush. /end white knight rant

You guys failed to read the part where I wrote “mostly”, Of course there are those who are truly passionate about cosplay and of course they probably live very interesting lives. I never said that it’s the only thing they do or the only thing they think about. I said the reason for anyone to dress up like that and be photographed and looked at does it for 1 reason only, TO BE LOOKED AT. Obviously. That means you are seeking attention because you want to be looked at.

And as you said, a lot are hired people, so they are probably not even that much into video games. They just do it to show off, be looked at. Otherwise you wouldn’t dress up like that. It’s the same as modeling or acting, seeking attention by having people looking at you. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I just think it doesn’t belong in the video game world.

Not to mention that a lot of women who fought for women rights not too long ago would turn in their graves if they see how some females project themselves to the world these days. Being half naked seems to be very normal, instead it’s females objectifying themselves to the limit. Combining that with video game characters of games that people love is a pretty brilliant marketing move considering 90% of the gaming market is teenage/early 20 guys.

Psychology will teach you there is a reason why people do certain things. From eating food in the morning, to playing video games 24/7, to guys wearing pants under their ass and wearing chains around their neck, to going to church, to women/girls putting on tight jeans and tank tops.

Also, life is a fascinating as you want it to be, don’t put a label on  it, just enjoy it! :)

      • BabyChooChoo

Couldn’t have said it better myself. +1

At the end of the day, it’s a hobby and whose to say that holding a mouse/controller in your hand has any more meaning than dressing up as your favorite character?

We’re, essentially, all cut from the same cloth. Just chillaxin’ out back, doing we do best: enjoying our hobbies and just trying to have fun the best way we know how. Ain’t no shame in that at all.

Some professional cosplayer have their promoter event company.
They charge a few hundred dollars for a few hour event.

    • Marc van Eik

Just Gary & co trying to get more hits on the site by posting cleavage.

  • Brozathon

only one i know is night elf and im thinking thats morgana with the devil wingz or w.e. or the succubus bitch from HoN

    • BabyChooChoo

      It’s Lilith…from Darkstalkers…

  • Justin Hurst

That’s a great Midna. And what is the deal with all the awesome Panty and Stocking cosplay…

  • http://www.facebook.com/malek.toumi1 Malek Toumi

someone explain that second to last picture, is that some kind of black afro catholic priest?

    • BabyChooChoo

oddly enough…yes it is lol. It’s Garterbelt from ‘Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.’ I’d explain who he is exactly, but anything I say about him would make me sound like a crazy person so for the purpose of sanity, we’ll just leave it at black catholic priest with an afro…

If you’re into anime, I’d suggest you check it out. Just…just…don’t have any expectations. The show isn’t bad. On the contrary, in fact, it’s one of the best series to come out in years. I say don’t have any expectations because nothing you can think of will prepare you for that show lol.

      • Justin Hurst

That’s a good way to sum it up, though :D
