S2 Games announced today that in an upcoming patch for Heroes of Newerth, the team will unlock all 107 heroes starting July 20th.

With this patch coming in just a day from now, many HoN fans may be wondering what happens if they bought a hero recently.

Lucky for us, plays who bought a hero since July 5th will be refunded.

But wait, there’s more.  Gamers who purchased a hero with gold coins will also get the new Mecha Gemini Alt Avatar for free.

And if your curious what the legacy players will be receiving, they now gain additional two silver coins for every ranked matchmaking game they play in.

With S2 Games allowing free access to all heroes, the adjustments in the cash shop, and the amount of coin gained per match increased, it’s a great time to be a MOBA fan.

Leave a comment below and let us know if you think this was an amazing move by S2 Game,s or is there still something missing?

Guess they figured they needed to get out ahead of Dota 2 doing it.  It remains to be seen if Riot will react to Dota 2 at all, as far as champion selection goes, although the fact that League of Legends apparently does way better than Heroes of Newerth makes me wonder how many people are really going to care about Dota 2 in the long term.  Based on how much better LoL apparently does than HoN, I feel like most people care about Dota 2 more because of who is making it than the specific differences between Dota 2 and LoL.  I really have no idea how many people still play the Warcraft III mod, though, so I guess those people have to be considered.

Maybe Valve is banking on picking up a lot of players who have never tried any of them before, just by virtue of it being on Steam.

To me it’s wierd to understand why so many people like LoL, The graphics are crap, gameplay is mutch worse than HoNs there are few details but the main point is I just cant understand the phenomen behind a LoL an why it is doing so well.

Well, I am actually one of those people who likes LoL better, though I have not played any MOBAs in quite a while.  As far as LoL goes, I got more into the Dominion gameplay mode / map once that was released, I think mostly because matches are shorter and nobody has to stick to one spot for a huge chunk of the game.

As for the graphics, they are cartoonish.  LoL also has a clean look, by which I mean it is very easy to pick out relevant objects from the background.  I would not say that stylistic choice makes them “crap.”  Something like Minecraft – now those are graphics I would call “crap.”

LOL have what HON really need..and that is style.LOL have it own graphic style and lore and feel to the world   the game itself match the graphic style and have a fun charm to it (i love teemo!!) but Hon try too hard to be cool, and it’s so hard to pick up and learn add to that the awful community and you have the top reasons why lol is better than Hon  now dota have a fun and unique style to it to the gameplay look as hard as Hon but i hope the community will let new players in
