League of Legends Updates Champion Pricing Tiers and Schedule
11 Comments

Riot have announced changes to their League of Legends champion pricing structure aimed at lowering overall champion prices.  IP and RP prices for older champions are being reduced, and the time between champion releases should be on a 3-4 week window.

New champions will now have a release cost of 7800 IP (still 975 RP) for the first week, then move down to the 6300 IP tier (remaining at 975 RP) the second week of release.  Each time a new champion is introduced the oldest 6300 IP tier champion will moved down to the 4800 IP/880 RP tier.  With every third new champion release a champion fro the 4800 IP tier and below will be moved down to the next tier.  These champions will be selected based on age and ease of play.

The seven oldest current 6300 IP champions are receiving an immediate price reduction, making them 4800 IP/880 RP.  These are Ezreal, Vladimir, Renekton, Nocturne, Lee Sin, Brand, and Vayne.  Any player who has purchased these champions in the past two weeks will receive an automatic refund for the price difference.

The goal of these changes is to make more champions accessible for newer players, and to create a more predictable pricing structure.

Here’s the tl;dr version:

it’s probably better now there is a structure.. if they keep to this…

ip price for first week is far too much apart from that i see no real problem its just a money grabing system to make people use cash for the first week altho i really think they should make better skins and make money from that instead of the new champs.

How is the IP price to much? I think it’s great that if you want to play the champ “first” before other players you have to pay more it’s actually quite logical.

Im fine with this, Riot does good work, ill support em, they usually know what they’re doing.

Make sense. Part of the reason why LoL has gotten so much success is because of its accessibility. So making more champs available to newer players seems like a good move.

What’s 1000 more IP when new champions were already 6800 ?

They can pay me to play their game and it will still suck!
