Riot have announced changes to their League of Legends champion pricing structure aimed at lowering overall champion prices. IP and RP prices for older champions are being reduced, and the time between champion releases should be on a 3-4 week window.
New champions will now have a release cost of 7800 IP (still 975 RP) for the first week, then move down to the 6300 IP tier (remaining at 975 RP) the second week of release. Each time a new champion is introduced the oldest 6300 IP tier champion will moved down to the 4800 IP/880 RP tier. With every third new champion release a champion fro the 4800 IP tier and below will be moved down to the next tier. These champions will be selected based on age and ease of play.
The seven oldest current 6300 IP champions are receiving an immediate price reduction, making them 4800 IP/880 RP. These are Ezreal, Vladimir, Renekton, Nocturne, Lee Sin, Brand, and Vayne. Any player who has purchased these champions in the past two weeks will receive an automatic refund for the price difference.
The goal of these changes is to make more champions accessible for newer players, and to create a more predictable pricing structure.
