Summoners,
As Season 2 is coming to a close, many have started to wonder what kind of rewards players can look forward to before the start of Season 3.
What ELO do you need to be considered top tier? Do normals count or just ranked? What kick ass skin can I get?
Ok, let’s be honest…I just care about what the rewards skin is and how I get it.
Thankfully, Riot released this information last week (War Hero Janna, get Gold tier). But that’s not all they released; the company also dropped a couple of important changes to the ranking system going in to Season 3.
First of all, your final tier for Season 2 will be based on highest ranking, not necessarily what your current rank is. In other words, once you’ve attained a higher tier bracket, you’re golden. If you reach platinum status then proceed to straight tank the next 20 games you played, you’ll still be platinum status.
However, as of last week Top Rating for an individual was also reset to Current Rating, meaning what you had at the time of the reset is also being marked as your highest rating. That’s your starting point.
On top of this, Riot decided to add another tier above Platinum – Diamond. Along with the new addition, each tier from Bronze to Diamond will now also be separated into ranks from VII (lowest) to I (highest). This allows players to better track their status as they attempt to move up from tier to tier.
Speaking of which, keep in mind that the ELO requirements for each tier is different for solo and team queues. For a complete list of the tier breakdown, as well as what prizes you can expect to receive, check the links below!
