LoL Team Dignitas Removes Support Player L0cust
6 Comments

The eSports world in LoL seems to be rocking right now, as yet another prominent team has forgone a significant roster change.

In the second type of breaking news this week, Support player and long time member Pat Miller aka  L0custhas officially parted with Team Dignitas.  The difficult decision to remove him came after a disappointing showing in Korea’s Azubu OGN tournament, where Dignitas finished 0-1 against Azubu Frost.  The team has yet to announce who will be filling in as their new support champion.

As an original member of Rock Solid – the team name before they joined the Dignitas organization – L0cust has been a staple to the team’s dynamic and style of play.   It is with a heavy heart that the team moves forward towards the season 2 finals after losing their close friend and team member.  As Dignitas’ team captain Scarra mentioned, “We had a tough decision after our performance in korea and prior events, and we decided that we wanted the highest chance to win the season 2 championships, which was a choice that eventually came down to this moment”.

But was this really the right move?

The fact is that the season 2 championship is right around the corner, and many are questioning if removing a core member (especially with no current replacement) was a wise choice.  Yes, it’s true that there were a lot of silly match mistakes under L0cust, but Scarra (for example) has had a less than steller performance recently as well.  Bottom line, L0cust is still one of the best support players in the League of Legends.  And as long time support for Team SoloMid Xpecial eluded to, the pickings for good supports this close to the season 2 regionals are pretty slim.

On the bright side, there seems to be no love lost between L0cust and the team.  In an official comment, L0cust announced his gratefulness to Dignitas for allowing him to be a part of the team, and wished his former team luck heading into the season two finale.

It’s great to see there’s still a level of professionalism among the top tier teams.  Not everything resorts to immaturity.

What do you think about Dignitas decision?  Was it the right one?  How will this fair leading into the championship?

**UPDATE** Jordan “Patoy”  Blackburn from Monomaniac eSports has officially been announced as L0cust replacement and new Support for the Team Dignitas.  You can find his interview regarding the change here.

I think it was a very unwise decision.  You don’t just get rid of a top tier player, a core member of your team, without a viable replacement.  Besides, no one is on top of their game all the time and there were other members of the team that weren’t exactly playing at their best either.  To be honest, either someone had it out for him or someone wasn’t thinking ahead.

Are you sure about your usage in the sentence “On the bright side, there seems to be no love lost between L0cust and the team.”

Idiom Definitions for ‘No love lost’

If there is no love lost between two people they have a strong enmity towards or hate for the other and make no effort to conceal it.
