In breaking news around the League, Jungler NintendudeX announced yesterday that he was no longer a member of the Team Dynamic. Opting to change their roster, Team Dynamic is bringing in former mTw.NA member Atlanta to serve as their new Jungler.
For his part, NintendudeX has formed a new team with ex-Curse top laner Poebelter called Meat Playground.
TD has been turning heads recently with their seemingly out-of-nowhere rise to LoL prominence. It seems odd then that the team would decide to part ways with the very man who is (arguably) the driving force behind their aggressive style. However, further information released via reddit has revealed this to be a one-sided decision.
Citing internet issues as well as increased stress and anxiety to perform as major contributing factors, NintendudeX took to the web to express his frustrations with the eSports community and the negative impact it was having on professional players. Yes, he did have DDoS issues which prevented him for making some tournaments and yes, it was the reason why TD had to keep enlisting substitutes. But it seems ironic that his main argument – negative attitude and stress – are contributing factors given that he’s no stranger to smack talk.
Especially once Dignitas’ IWillDominate and longtime community jungling guru Stonewall chimed in with their reactions. In response to his post, both cited numerous incidents in which the ex-TD Jungler verbally abused the players with little to no antagonization with derogatory comments and personal attacks, stating this recent post as being nothing but a PR attempt for pity points. NintendudeX’s responses to those accusations were less than compelling (especially against Stonewall), giving strength to the thought that TD removed their ex-member for attitude problems and a lack of team cohesion.
Look, I don’t want to get into an article of “he said, she said” as that’s not my job. The chat logs, forum posts, and videos are out there for each person to make their own informed decision as to what they believe about NintendudeX, Team Dynamic, and professional players all around.
That being said, being a pro player does not give you a blanket excuse to be a jerk. While we can all empathize with the increased scrutiny and pressure professional players face, there is a reason why they’re professionals to begin with. It is a real concern, but no one asks them to be pros.
Regardless of if it was warranted or not, I find it extremely difficult to defend or sympathize with NintendudeX on this one.
I’ll end instead congratulating Atlanta and wishing both he and Team Dynamic good luck going into the season 2 finale.
