For some reason I can’t explain, players seem to have forgotten about Kayle.
Talk about versatility! This winged beauty can easily be played any lane, but does particularly well in Top due to her insane early game ranged burst potential. Kayle simply chunks down enemies with Righteous Fury, essentially making her a “ranged” melee. Coupled with an ultimate that makes any team member (self included) invulnerable for 3 seconds, a mini heal, and a passive that can shred 15% armor and magic resist, Kayle’s potential to effect a match is huge!
You know who else has been forgotten recently? Urgot. Let me tell you a little story about Urgot.
Once upon a time no one played Urgot. He’s not very easy on the eyes, has a pretty short range, and doesn’t do as much damage as other ranged carries. Then one day Urgot was used in a professional tournament by a well known team and straight melted faces.
Suddenly, Urgot became the most sought after ranged champion – so much so that Riot needed to nerf the hell out of him. I guess people started to realize that an armor shredding AoE poison, auto-aim missiles, a super tanky shield that also adds slowing effects to enemies, and an ability to literally switch positions with an enemy were really good abilities to have in team compositions. Even after the nerfs, Urgot is ridiculously beastly.
However – of all the forgotten – I will be paying respects this week to my favorite Ionian: Irelia.
There was a time when Irelia was the default pick for a Top lane bruiser. And why not? Her kit is insane! An enemy CC duration reduction, self-healing strikes, slows, stuns, and the almighty true damage?
It’s no wonder that Riot had to repeatedly beat her over the head with the nerf stick.
Whatever! Do yourself a favor and lock her in; see how nerfed Irelia really is.
See ya on the Fields of Justice!
