Riot has introduced a new League of Legends Collegiate program which can help you find or create a League of Legends club at your school. They’ve created a handy new site with tools to help you search for a club at your school, or offer assistance in creating one. The goal is obviously to bring the League of Legends community in your area closer together.
Find a Club at Your School
The League of Legends Collegiate program has made finding a club at your school as easy as filling out a couple of boxes and hitting the search button. You can search by school name, city, or state. If your school has an existing club you can click to get more information about contacting them and becoming a part of your local League of Legends Community.
Create a Club at Your School
If your school doesn’t already have a club listed in the League of Legends Collegiate program, you can start one. It’s not as easy as you might think to start and organize a new club, but Riot is going to provide you a few tools to help out. You’ll need to fill out an application, and if Riot gives official approval you will receive a series of challenges to help get your club started. These challenges will show your dedication to creating the club, and is a vital step in proving that you are the right person to organize a League of Legends club in your area. Oh, and you can get some sweet swag as well, like LoL t-shirts for your group!
Make Friends, Organize Events
Sure, socializing and meeting new people can be scary for some lone dark-room gamers out there, but the games we play are inherently social, so meeting new people is a side-effect of playing online games. You might as well meet some folks in your area who share the same interests as you. I met my two best friends through gaming, so it really can be a great way to find lifetime friendships with people who share your views and interests.
The League of Legends Collegiate program is also a convenient way for you to find other school’s clubs and set up events such as online tournaments for school pride and bragging rights. Not happy how that college bowl game turned out? Find the other schools club and have some fun slugging it out in League of Legends.
Riot has taken a great step here in bringing their community closer with the League of Legends Community program. Now shut up and stop feeding, noob.
