A very special milestone is approaching the League:
Riot Games will be introducing their 100th champion onto the Fields of Justice.
Now based on their release cycle, we’d normally start seeing some kind of announcement regarding new champions 2 weeks after the latest champion. But given that Riot is in full panic mode after patch 1.61, no official word has been given as to who lucky number 100 will be.
Thankfully, we have a public beta client.
Wide speculation and data mining favor a man named Jayce as being the newest champion to join the league in a future patch. This was originally based solely on remnant data files and a leaked ability list, but we now also have video footage of the man behind the mystery.
Visually speaking, it seems Riot is finally giving players what they really want – a “Pulsefire Taric”.
At first glance, it seems as though Jayce will have a 2 mode set up similar to Nidalee’s cougar or Lee Sin’s split abilities. What makes this potential champion particularly intriguing is that he also seems to be a melee / ranged hybrid, capable of attacking up close and far away depending on which mode he’s in.
It will be interesting to see how Riot plans to commemorate this special champion in the coming weeks. We can only wait with anticipation until that time comes.
Then again, who knows? Maybe Riot will surprise us all and release Kassadin’s daughter instead.
