With the World Championship right around the corner, Riot has decided to release a quick hotfix patch with some pretty important changes heading into the event.
But let’s talk about Vladimir and Yorick.
Although they are both respectively two of my favorite champions to play, anyone who has ever gone up against Vladimir or Yorick top lane know that they’re extremely OP. The amount of harass they put out combined with their own sustainability from Blood Transfusion and Omen of Famine make them virtually untouchable to a Summoner who knows how to play them.
Now, the real problem with Vladimir is with his ability Tides of Blood.
Since the health cost reduction, players are able to keep this buff up at max stacks almost infinitely throughout the match. By combining this with stacked magic penetration builds, Vladimir wrecks havoc way too early for a late game AP carry. To combat this, Riot is slightly nerfing the amount of damage higher ranks of the skill provide.
With Yorick, the issue was never about damage output so much as straight being able to counter.
That is, Yorick has no real counter.
The gravedigger can sit back, spam ghouls all day and bully his lane with little to no worry. To fix his early game dominance, Yorick is getting an increase in mana cost to Omen of Pestilence, which will hopefully make him less spam happy.
Remember when Caitlyn and Miss Fortune were viable ranged carries in competitive play? Me neither, but that’s also being addressed. And our little buddy Ziggs received an interesting change to his satchel charge! Also, Rengar is getting some love to become an even better stalker…
And the Tribunal? Rework!
There’s plenty more inside this patch! I highly encourage everyone to check out the video at the top for a much more detailed explanation of these topics.
Good patch? Bad patch? Are you in love or raging with the champion changes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
See ya on the Fields of Justice!
