It seems there has been quite a buzz surrounding League of Legend’s Team Curse recently.
After placing 4th at PAX and failing to qualify for the Season 2 World Championship, Curse has been setting their eyes towards the future of Season 3. Not soon after Regionals, Curse top laner Westrice made a quick announcement via his twitter account about some upcoming changes to the team.
The following day, in an interview with Saintvicious, the Curse jungler confirmed that the team will be shaking things up a little bit, picking up recently departed TSM.Evo member Salce:
“We are trying out Salce top for 2 weeks and seeing how it goes from there. Nothing is set in stone yet though. Westrice is practicing support atm.”
Wait, but isn’t Elementz the support?
There has been a ton of speculation over what’s going to happen between Elementz, Westrice, and now Salce. The popular belief was that Elementz is getting benched or kicked completely and Westrice was taking over as Curse’s new support. Thankfully, Westrice himself further clarified these rumors with yet another announcement:
After further clarification via his own stream, Westrice also revealed that the current plan is a dual-lane switch with Elementz going top to better synergize with Saintvicious. Westrice will be covering support to better synergize with Cop, and the Salce pick up was a suggestion by Saintvicious – who was noted as not being a fan of the lane swap idea in the first place.
As to whether Salce has or will be officially picked up by Curse, we’ll have to wait and see. As Saintvicious said, nothing is set in stone.
What do you think? Curse has long been held as a team with unmatched potential but lacking cohesion. Will switching roles be the best strategy for future success? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
