Greetings Summoners!
The League makes its Pro Circuit debut at the MLG Spring Championship this weekend. 20 of the best teams from North America and Europe travel to the Anaheim Convention Center in California to duke it out in a 3 day, double elimination brawl for a $40,000 prize pool, key Season 2 circuit points, and the glory of being crowned champion of MLG.
The pros are out en masse, with North America’s Team SoloMid sitting in the #1 seed coming off of their victories from IPL 4 and Reign of Gaming. Favorites to sweep the tournament entirely, they’re challenged by League favorites including SK Gaming, Fnatic, TSM.EVO (formerly Epik), Counter Logic Gaming, Dignitas, and Curse. Recently in the spotlight for their 3-way roster trade, will Team Curse finally be able to seize a tournament win and prove they’re more than just the perpetual underdogs?
And what about the dark horses – the teams who came from out of nowhere to take the League by storm? Will it be Team Dynamic – with their aggressive and unconventional style – that stand victorious? Or will the ferocity that is Team Marn, hailing from the fighting game genre, rewrite the MOBA style of gameplay entirely?
The day 1 battles have been hard fought and brutal, with many edge-of-your-seat moments and twists around every turn. Catch up on the fights over at the MLG and Riot streams, or check out the reddit page here, and be sure to tune in today at 10:00am PST for the start of day 2.
