sc2 is far from figured out and the units shown at Blizzcon were mostly strange, so why not iterate.
the changes they plan to make to nydus are good, because the functionality of nydus and drop overlap, which is not a good thing. same goes for roach and hydra imo. too bad we now seem to have two broodling spamming units, which is an overlap again and also not good for frame rates and it just feels messy somehow, not like the zerg I know and loved from sc1

Whether or not what Blizz says is actually set in stone is beside the point. Blizz knows that whatever they say gets set in the minds of their players and the players will etch it in stone. That's why Blizz doesn't spout random nonsense that they are only 'thinking about' because they know better. So having them change things that players wanted is what makes people a little upset/sad.

As a pointer, i didn't mind your whole analysis (despite other people thinking its extremely flawed). My only problem, which is something you should try to fix, is saying "What they said at blizzcon is expected to be set in stone." yeah, never say anything at Blizzcon, or in any bluepost annoucement, is ever set in stone. I don't even think blizzard can make stone to set things in!

please gb pleeeeease stop trying to score with a dunk when you are only 1.60.
APM? cool stuff.Tournaments updates?cool stuff.general news like team x hires player y all good.

but just let out the drama and stuff like that because you guys clarly have no idea what you are talking about.

and the blizzcon units were never ever ever ever set in stone.
this was just some eye candy for the casuals
did you also expect the silver surfer to make it live in wol?
what about the predetor?the lurker?scout?vessel?firebat?scourge?and on and on and on.just look up the documented pre alpha and beta changes

and sry to implement a unit in a game like sc2 doesn't cost you a week....i would give it max one day if you suck in your job.

the most development time is taken by the sp.

First of all I just want to say thanks for bringing these things up :)

Remember every time you talk about the product slate god kills a kitten ;) But HotS was actually slated for Q4 2011 and if thats a time frame to go by it should already be here :D
And when we have a game thats been out for nearly two years Id at least expect a beta sometime soon[tm]
The words Browder used about the Oracle was "...caused players not build certain units, removing diversity." Basically they want new units to change it up a little and it didnt, seeing at it copys units your not going to need diversity are you :PSo I think my reasoning was sound, but I can see what you mean. The way I worded it was slightly off making it sound the exact opposite. Finally the "setback" stuff. Yer of course Blizzard have a melting pot of ideas they can instantly pick out a idea from their dev team and be "Lets go with that"They could throw out the entire idea for MoP right now if they wanted. and within a day the writing team could have a new expansion ready to roll. But think of the setbacks. [this is over dramatic example] it would be monumental.Blizzard would have had those units in mind from when they launched WoL, now they are gone as I said in the break, thats so much time for coders to actually make a new unit, make animations, play with numbers to get the feeling of the damage/spell right.
Thats just fact, It takes work to create something new, that will take time, so it will cause a setback. It may be a week it may be a year but it will slow you down. I didnt mean to put forward the idea that they were in a panic, I just wanted to keep it interesting using our favorite Blizzard excuse. Itll be here when its here, to stir up a little drama. It makes a article feel a little more personal when you know thats what they do. D3's finally here and I sure as hell dont intend to keep waiting for an expansion :PI love it when people contradict what I say, please keep it up. Im a total noob and some times I do just **** up ♥

Blizzard is a brave company that's not afraid to throw assets and games away that won't work. Blizzard has scrapped dozens of games they've never even announced because they weren't up to snuff. Trust them to do what needs to be done and stop stressing about what's in or out. Wait until there's a beta test to freak out about things, and even then understand that if something doesn't work the way they want it to, they're just as likely to make something new as they are to fix it.

Okay, before i get started with this, i want to say first off, that i love gamebreaker. I come here for all my news because its the only place i need.

That being said, the report you guys did on this... almost sounds like you didn't even read the article the devs posted. And it just sounds highly uneducated. Firstly, stop trying to predict dates. The blizzard release charts that were leaked some time ago, didn't even have HotS set to release till Q1 2013.

Secondly, You're really calling this a setback? Nowhere in the article did they even remotely hint to this being any sort of setback. Whether it is or it is not, stop talking like the things you think are facts. You spoke about it being held up as if you called blizzard and they were in a panic. A developer of blizzards stature knows that when you make a game of this sort (or any) there are a million ideas everyone has. And not all ideas are going to make it to release. They know that. So should you. The presentation at blizzcon was a "dry run" of what COULD be.

Thirdly, they specifically said the reason they removed the replicant, which your article was COMPLETELY mislead. They said they removed it because IT WAS MOVING THE GAME IN A WAY THEY DIDN'T LIKE. Not because it's "not a new unit". They didn't like that opposing enemies were just not building certain units because of it.

Sorry guys, i don't mean to sound harsh, im trying to be constructive. I love gamebreaker and the news it puts out. But this seemed really half assed.
