IPL4 is now officially the highest viewed eSport event out side of Korea.
Bringing in over three million unique online viewers, six million hours of content was viewed with a peak of 346,000 concurrent online viewers.
This beats MLG’s numbers from last season where Providence only had 240,000 for its peak of online concurrent viewers and 3.6million hours of content viewed.
But was it all StarCraft 2?
No.
League Of Legends was the star of the show in Vegas at IPL4, on Twitch.tv there were over 200,000 online viewers at one point.
It is no lie that IPL4 was a monumental undertaking and it delivered, showing that League Of Legends is a force to be reckoned with.
With the latest MLG event at Columbus not having public numbers, this may be an empty announcement on IPLs part. Keep an eye out for a possible announcement, as MLG will always want to one-up their biggest competitor in the US.
These numbers from IPL are astounding.
If ever anyone doubted whether eSports is rising in popularity, these figures will blow their minds.
