Zergs are getting a buff, and this makes me happy.
The changes to Zerg are:
- Queen: Ground attack ranged increased from 3 to 5
- Overlord: Movement speed increased from 0.4687 to 0.586
These are some rather significant changes that are primarily going to affect the Zerg vs Terran match-up.
The early game scouting for Zerg has always been very limited in the ZvT match up. You could easily deny the scouting of important information with one or two marines and good placement of tech. The overlord speed increase can help you get two overlords into position.
The queen buff is great for denying the reactored hellion builds as they will have equal range to hellions, and it will be opening the early game meta game for Terrans. We will hopefully see lots more two barracks pressure or Banshee plays as the early game for TvZ metagame is very dull.
I personally feel it is too strong vs Terran, but as I said its a great change to the metagame as we wont exclusively go four queen before gas to defend the obvious hellion pressure.
Protoss has also got a small change:
- Observer: Build time decreased from 40 to 30
Once again, nothing major that seems to screams OP before your sink your teeth into it and begin the forum hunt, but a change that needed to happen.
Another change I see to be directed toward the Terran match-up. Lately, Terrans have been killing the observers just to take up Robo time as they rebuild it to slow down a colossus timing attack. To put into perspective two Observers equals one colossus slowing down a timing attack by a whole minute and another two rounds of units from the Terran.
Also the observer will be more viable in an emergency situation, just getting out the little bit faster vs Banshees and Dark Templars.
These changes will be hitting servers sometime today so keep your eye out as people want to get their hands on the new changes.
