The weekend’s StarCraft 2 was nothing short of incredible.
MLG Spring Arena 1 and Dreamhack Stockholm did not fail to impress.
But who stole the show?
Dreamhack was my personal favourite this weekend, the production was amazing, full HD for free, fantastic games on the final day and the thrill of the live event was definitely what tipped the scales for me.
Why will I remember Dreamhack over MLG, even though MLG had a weekend of outstanding matches?
SWEDEN FIGHTING!
ThorZaIN takes the title — from the hands of Polt in a nail biting Terran vs Terran — to claim his first title since TSL3 and claim it on home turf in Sweden.
That moment ThorZaIN won the title, it took me back to the origins of foreign StarCraft 2 and my nostaligia bone got a great buzz as raised his arms in front of the packed arena.
MLG Spring Arena was not a mediocre tournament in the slightest degree.
It was worth every single penny I paid and the quality of matches only highlighted the names involved.
It came to no surprise that MarineKingPrime waltzed his way into Sunday facing no major challenge until the finals vs…
You guessed it — for the third MLG in a row — DongRaeGu.
History was set to repeat itself, as both these titans met in the finals, but this time DRG took the win in the final game.
Emotion overwhelmed him as he took down MKP and the tournament to calm to doubters minds who said his time was done.
Both ThorZaIN and DongRaeGu reminded the world this weekend why they could never be put in the “one hit wonder” category.
