EA and Crytek’s upcoming game Crysis 3 was officially announced last week, but today we’re getting our first full glimpse of the game in action.

The trailer’s descriptive blurb gives us a bit more info on Crysis 3’s plot:

Take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilise a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet

Running off of the same engine as Crysis 2 (CryENGINE 3), some are saying that the gameplay footage of Crysis 3 looks an awful lot like its predecessor.

What do you think? Does this trailer get you amped for more Crysis?

Crysis 3 is set to release sometime next year for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Expect the normal platforms but not the upcoming Wii U (soon to be renamed if rumors are to be trusted). I was surprised to hear Crytek did not want to cut their teeth on the new platform, but untested hardware I guess can be scary. (even if the company is always pushing the limits on the graphical front)

Was always sad about Crysis 2 MP not being as popular as expected, it was a great game; as I dare hate to say it but is true way better alternate in design and innovation in an FPS than CoD MW2 or Black Ops (for its time).

Granted I know Crysis 2 made their fair share of mistakes and turn offs, but still the nanosuit really changes alot besides the general awesome graphical capabilities.

One thing they are really giving fans with Crysis 3 is the return to the “wilderness” feel that many had and wanted after going from Crysis to playing Crysis 2. It seems they are going back to adding some more creative weaponry too, hopefully it just isn’t the bow though it looks awesome and all.

Oh not to mention probably the on of the biggest known FPS titles to actually have a great campaign behind it, you compare other FPSs that are popular, they don’t even have a good story behind it or show a good story, like CoD or BF.

I just really hope EA doesn’t screw the game up with bad business decisions (in terms of social popularity of the game) or tech issues either being way too under utilized by PC at release or too under-performing on console.
