Bigpoint‘s “GOT” a new trailer for its Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms MMO, coming out in 2013, and it’s pretty sweet looking, showing off the game’s engine, a few combat scenes, and lots and lots of blood.

You can see it in the hit above, but when you’re doing so, remember that this is a browser-based game. Looks pretty sweet, huh? There’s backstabbing, of the literal kind, as well as what look like some pretty sizable PvP battles — and who’s that sitting on the Iron Throne? The plan is to launch with three-faction open-world PvP, eventually ramping up to nine factions. Yes, nine.

If you need a refresher on everything that’s going into the game, check out our post-GDC wrap-up hit on the game.

And yes, it’s by Bigpoint, with all that entails, but at least it’ll look pretty and be free to try.

Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms is scheduled for an early 2013 release. Which might be during the winter. So it’s coming… in winter… there’s gotta be a line in there somewhere…

I had to mute that trailer half way through because I felt it brought such shame to an amazing intro song. The next time I want to hear that song it’s either going to be

    a. Negative Ph remix
    or
    b. Game of Thrones Season 3

    P.S. Don’t wake the dragon.

Seems kind of cool. I was really excited when I thought about a GoT MMO purely for a very, very low fantasy (VIrtually no magic) MMO, which is like my dream. But then I was reminded it was browser based and Bigpoint… Hmm. Might be OK, but I doubt it. I’ll at least play it when it comes out to run and see Lannister armor and whatnot up close and personal.

Eh, I’ll give it a chance.

Hmm… I adore the books, but I really didn’t like the television series (they got the feel of the characters and the world in general completely wrong for me, kind of overstated everything) and I’ve been rather weary of the game ever since it was announced. I just can’t help but feel that over commercialising is taking something away from A Song of Ice and Fire. It seems to me like they’re just trying to milk as much as they can out of a trending IP, and a browser game is the best they could manage? Seriously? I mean it looks wonderful for a browser game sure, but let’s face it, it looks poor compared to a real game. I think such a high profile IP could have managed more if they’d held out for other development opportunities. But oh well, I’ll still give it a go, I love George R.R. Martin and his amazing novels far too much not to. Besides 9 faction pvp sounds pretty epic, maybe the game will surprise me :)

Hmm, possibly a step in the right direction… It would be nice to play on Android phones.

    LMFAOOOOO.

“war” – shows 5 guys slashing each other with animations out of the first guild wars- holy shit. but hey, it’s yet another “viable” treatment for those afflicted with Anything But Guild Wars 2 syndrome.

Obvious cash-in, i highly doubt this game will be good, or that the fans will like it.

Looks to be extremely RPG which prolly means lots and lots of questing. I hope it is base on the early history of GoT. When there where Dragons flying around everywhere. MMOs have to have Dragons. Period.

    looks horribly B-grade

I love the books and the TV show is really good but I really don’t think this IP is suitable to make a good MMORPG with.

I think this is just a money grab attempt to milk the last cent out of the IP though like that other games of thrown game.
