What do you get when you combine the Norse gods, head-pounding heavy metal music, and action-packed combat footage?  An epic bad-ass SMITE trailer!

Hi-Rez Studios has teamed up with the legendary metal band, MANOWAR, to produce a clash of the pantheons video entitled Battleground of the Gods.  The Greek deities—led by Zeus—square off against Odin and the Norse gods in a heroic melee set to the popular MANOWAR song, The Sons of Odin.  SMITE’s newest god, Thor, makes a thunderous entrance during the battle and it seems Hi-Rez allowed MANOWAR’s penchant for all things Norse to sway the outcome.

It also appears that we’ll be hearing more from the band—who holds records for both the loudest and longest live heavy metal performances—as Hi-Rez Chief Operating Officer, Todd Harris explains:

“MANOWAR has a rich history in fantasy and mythology.  We shared our vision for SMITE and decided to start with The Sons of Odin track with more music to come, including original compositions by Joey DeMaio and MANOWAR.”
