The veil of mist has been lifted! The official cinematic trailer for Mists of Pandaria is here!

Just moments ago at Gamescom, Blizzard revealed the breathtaking cinematic trailer for the forth coming expansion. Introducing the heroes of Azeroth to Pandaria, the Pandaren, Monks and the new trials, tribulations, and adventures to be had in the new expansion.

Are you ready to venture into the Mists? Do the heroes of Azeroth have what it takes to survive the coming war? There is only one way to find out!

Mists of Pandaria launches on the 25th of September.

Now that was awesome & funny at the same time.

    yay… Kung-Fu Panda 3 trailer..

    • Svenskalkoholkultur

Warcraft had pandas before Kung-Fu Panda…

      • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

the pandas in wc3 were novelty friar tuck npcs that drank a lot, not a core aspect of the game thrown in to appeal to a younger demographic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/stincuta.paul Stincuta Paul

the cinematic is awesome …if u make a movie with warcraft it will probably be very good….too bad the game goes into the other direction.

    Oh wow, just wow!

  • http://www.facebook.com/nordinilini Andreas Nordin

That was the hypest shit I´ve seen in a very long time!

Great trailer, but it’s not really the lore of the expansion that I take issue with, and why I am still on the fence about continuing to play…

  • http://twitter.com/Threefiddie Landon Loper

    I liked it.

    gw2 zealot’s hate to ensue

  • http://twitter.com/SilverTaurusPL SilverTaurus

Maybe less epicness than Cataclysm .. but more quality and character in it.
I like it much more :D

  • Jasongvh

Great trailer, a lot more exciting then what I actually experienced in the beta unfortunately. I won’t be playing MoP but still impressive trailer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alex-Perez/100000645704447 Alex Perez

that intro was ok at best

    • http://twitter.com/MarkDanielNeale Mark Neale

      Agreed.

The graphics were great, but I was kind of expecting them to bring the “War back to Warcraft”.

I was expecting to see an army of Horde running towards an army of Alliance ready to kick the crap out of each other, and then a bunch of Pandarens doing their best to stop the battle…

…desperately trying to stop them from unleashing that which should not be unleashed.

We could have seen similar fun Pandaren stuff as already shown within this video, but with more than just one of each to make it more epic.

And then… towards the end of it, the Pandaren fail to stop the battle and the “Sha” is unleashed.

All armies stop to look at that which we don’t see, the evil known as the “Sha”… and as we’re about to see it, the MoP logo slams down.

Something like that would have *wow*ed me. An epic scale war which releases the evil the Pandarens were worried about. That would have made me drop my jaw and say, ‘Oh… My… God…’

But Blizzard did not do this… they had a boat scene. Then apparently only one survivor of each faction fighting, to then have their ass handed to them by a Disney Kung-Fu Panda. They then end on showing how pretty Pandaria is.

Didn’t scream anything to me about bringing the war back to Warcraft, just felt like a “Kung-Fu Panda 3″ trailer to be honest.

Any ways, that’s my opinion. Sorry, I was just hoping for something more epic.

    • MiZTiiX

you know its good you just don’t wanna say it.

  • http://mywarcraft.tumblr.com/ James Glaze

Seeing cinematic like this makes me want a WoW movie that much more! Looks great, I enjoyed the comedy in it. Can’t wait to play it live! Haters going to hate, but if you’ve played WoW from the start, there is no reason not to at least give MoP a shot.

  • BigH001

For a second there I thought he was going to do the Neo “come here” finger waggle.

  • Jasongvh

Gotta hand it to blizzard there trailers for diablo 3 and MoP have been great it’s just a pity the games don’t live up to the hype.

  • http://twitter.com/zoucat07 Tyler Huffman

I can’t bring myself to stomach any more WoW in my lifetime, but the trailer was very good and captured the theme of the xpac well imo.

  • http://twitter.com/MightySneaker Mike

I’m not a WoW player myself, it just never clicked with me and pandas were a ridiculous concept from the start, but that trailer, has hyped me up for a game I will probably never play. Also if it were Kung Fu Panda 3: World of Warcraft edition, I would go watch the shit out of it.

  • Krzysztof Kotarba

lol…  why this guy sharpen a stick if he has a knife/sword <_<… shame that pandas ingame arent that cool… btw it's nice preview how OP monk will be :P

    • http://twitter.com/cyanpill cyanpill

Because the sword was broke in the shipwreck? Plus it’s always better to have multiple weapons in case you lose one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bengt.edstam Bengt Edstam

    Awesome!

  • http://twitter.com/Nin3r Richard Martin

Even though I’m not going back there, that beard on the pandaren made him look a lot better and less “kungfu panda-ish”. But then all of the pandaren turn out to be monks anyway..   At least having the horde and alliance fight the pandaren made more sense, blizzard-wise.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wullo-Sweetwater/100001172203368 Wullo Sweetwater

I know I will be unpopular on this site with this opinion.. but i liked it, makes me want to play WoW again. I particularly liked the panda :)

    • stijn hardy

i liked it to, ppl comparing it to kung fu panda are just being childish

  • Jiří Benda

Srsly? It’s like a trailer for a new Walt Disney sh*t, glad I got outta there, before this happened.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/cpjontek cpjontek

Blizzard makes some incredible looking cinemas.  This one is however my least favorite with TBC  and Classic being my favorites.  I would love to see a feature length movie done this way.

  • Bobby K

I’d wach the movie.Seriously this is like Kung Fu panda :D .I will pass on the game tho.Rather save my montly fees for AC3 while playing GW2 or Darksiders 2.Not hating I just dont like the game

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Justin-Case/100003772398650 Justin Case

kids come here,Disney made a new film for you!!!

    • MiZTiiX

which is exactly why you came here :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/craig.gafoor Craig Gafoor

who cares….Guildwars 2 is upon us all, the question is why would we play WOW, cutting edge combat system? no, epic instanced events, no, as its pay once and play forever without a sub no….that is…guildwars 2 and their aint no fluffy panda’s ripped off from a movie from years ago!

    • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

2 different games. that is like saying Why play GW2? Madden is coming out soon.

      • http://twitter.com/Luke_Malcolm Luke Malcolm

Transformers Fall of Cybertron is coming out Aug 28th aswell.

    • http://www.facebook.com/shargath.neffarion Shargath Gaming

      amen to that brother

    • MiZTiiX

i see you are beginning to doubt GW2. mad fanboy :)

    • http://twitter.com/crusadernero Crusadernero

oh wow. you are going to play gw2 and complain about cuddly pandas? take a look at atleast one of the races you can choose in gw2. Tip: smaller than a gnome.

      • MMO_Doubter

Not to mention the plants with boobies.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

You mean the reanimated human bodies being used by a sentient manifestation of nature itself to combat the apocalypse?

It’s called lore buddy; look it up. And even so the sylvari are still better than cows with boobies, or did you conveniently forget about that WoW race when formulating your bias argument? Oh yeah, also, purple people. Yeah that is a really creative race design right there. Or how about that new race they added later of the humans that aren’t humans because they are just re-skinned purple people with a human color….

World of Warcraft: re-skinning re-skins since they re-skinned Everquest.

          • MMO_Doubter

LOL. Say as much shit about WoW as you like, Son.

I am no fan of WoW.

Yeah, the Tauren look a little silly with boobs, instead of udders, but at least cows are mammals – not plants. The Dranei look even worse, and the Gnomes are grotesque and offensive. Think you just scored points off me? Guess again.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

I see you igrnoed my counter point about the sylvari. That is how I scoed points; by providing an argument you appearently can’t counter. Want to try again?

          • MMO_Doubter

Okay. I have made the point before in other threads, but here it is again:

ANet MADE the lore. They CHOSE to make plant people with boobs. They weren’t forced to follow some epic tome written by Tolkein.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

            Female charr. Enough said.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=502603000 Jeremy Rodriguez

Blizzard should make a movie instead of another xpac for wow.

  • Kaemin

Blizzard should stop making games and start making CGI Movies

  • http://twitter.com/MaZt12 MaZt

Isn’t this Kung Fu Panda 3???

    • MiZTiiX

      Aren’t you a troll?

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

         Aren’t you?

this got me about as excited as a wet noodle…. i remember every other expansion raising hairs on the back of my neck and giving me goosepumps… Mists of Pandaria.. a huge meh. couldnt care less. but i hope those that are still playing fun i guess

  • Mike Kajis

Trailer was just epic and awesome, there is no “evil boss” in it, cuz
it’s not current yet and I heard that the last boss might be Garrosh him
self. And for serious, stop bringing Kung-Fu Panda here, Blizz brought
Pandas into the game much earlier than movie was made, in Kung-Fu Panda
it’s is all funny and stupid Panda, who is clumzy and kid’ly shiet.
Pandaren are wise and serious with humor, not like retarded in Kung Fu
panda. As for GW2 fans, I like it too, but it sux in PvP matter, you just have to keybash to win with 4 BG’s wow… Good Luck.

    • Bobby K

Tell me how ..WoW has good, fair and non gear dependant PvP

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidallmighty David Cohen

Exactly. This race was created before that Movie was. People just talk out their asses cause its cool to hate this game, when 3 years ago it was cool to love it.

    • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

pandas in wc3 were a novelty friar tuck character with an serious alcohol problem. pandas in wow are a blatant grab at a younger demographic that comes at the expense of many gamers who wanted serious @$% kicking content. its two different implementations. sure, some people are hating cause its cool to hate, but many of us are wow fans who are genuinely let down by the direction of the franchise.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1074039741 Janne Sanis Prokkola

    now that was retarted

  • Odeezee

WTF was that? WoW Blizz is slipping bad. i expected something EPIC, but this was just sad and very ‘eh. Blizz should also really stop with the CGI, they really make the game look bad once the CGI is over and the game loads. oh well.

    • MiZTiiX

okay so know i can see you are a troll. You are just mad that the trailer is good because you’ve invested so much money into pre ordering GW2. HA!

      • Odeezee

a troll? just because i think the CGI was crappy? that’s rich and i can now see that you are a troll forever wanting to justify your ties to an old and uninspired game, that has not innovated since TBC.

it’s okay though, i don’t mind if you try to use me as a scapegoat for your insecurities, because if i was in your shoes i would be searching for anything else i could to try and make a trailer that is NOT as EPIC as the ones previous, is very Disney in appearance and delivery, looks absolutely NOTHING like the game you will actually be playing and plays absolutely NOTHING like the game you will actually be playing at least seem a little exciting to me so i can feel okay with wasting yet even more time and money with it’s dated engine, mechanics and systems.

and you bringing GW2 into this is where you really fucked up. i never mentioned GW2 in my post and i was judging the trailer as a former WoW player. yes i have a difference of opinion to yours and yes i am going to play GW2, that does not automatically mean that i cannot like a good trailer, the MoP one just so happens to not be one to me. the Original trailer for WoW was fantastic, the BC trailer has the best gaming phrase for any game that taunted you into wanting to log in to show that you will not be beaten by PvE, “you are not prepared”, and WotLK was epic in it’s presentation and delivery. now the Cata trailer was meh and this MoP one is just WTF to me.

and you need to come up with better comebacks than “you are just mad that the trailer is good because you invested so much money into pre-ordering GW2. HA!” it was embarrassing to read that as the two things were unrelated and GW2 cost $20 more for a whole new game rather than paying for a dated one’s expansion. i am sure that in your mind as you were writing that you thought, “yeah i am going to diss him hard with this”, but i am sure you have heard the phrase that it’s not really a diss if you are the only one laughing. better luck next time.

        • MiZTiiX

i didn’t even bother to read this raging mess. All i could see is GW2 GW2 GW2. The reason you didn’tlike it because you’re too busy fapping to azura posters

          • Odeezee

and this is the reason many WoW players give uninformed opinions of new MMOs and create Strawmans to try and justify their insecurities.
i pity you man, i really do.

          • MiZTiiX

Yh and this is why on every MMO video their are GW2 fanboys putting it down and not giving it a chance because they are so ignorant and do not give any new MMOs a chance. :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1478685486 Lior Brayman

Really nice trailer, not like the old ones that was focused only on the last boss and what he’s done. Reminds me of the Classic Cinematic which I like so much. And you can see they will focus on the war between factions seriously in this expansion.

  • http://twitter.com/Myrrdhinn15 Myrrdhinn

Blizz, please make movies instead of games. :) That would kick ass :D

  • Andrius Asakavicius

Like it, its not very serious a bit funny. I think its a good way blizz is going with MoP. And i hope blizz dont dissapoint players one more time, because i think it can be the last time :) so keep it going blizz give us something to be proud about :)

  • ESeregon

Was cool till the Saturday morning cartoon Tom & Jerry antics started

  • http://twitter.com/prism2525 prism2525

Looks like a more-than-significant imitation from Kung Fu Panda in my opinion. What really makes it so is the funny humour in the trailer; it’s copied straight from the Disney movie.

On the other hand it is very well done. Great effects, lightings etc, but then you log in the game and your eyes pop out… in disgust. Anybody buying the game based on the trailer’s cinematics is going to throw the game out of the window.

    • Karizee

Such a huge disconnect between the low poly count and sesame street colors of the game and what’s in that trailer.  I feel sorry for any kid that gets tricked into buying the game off that.  Looks like outright false advertising.

    • http://twitter.com/coreyctom Corey

      Dreamworks.

    • MiZTiiX

The trailer uses the same style as all of the cinematic, why are you not complaining about them, you are just looking for trouble.

      • Karizee

I did complain about how the Cata trailer was so different from the DW fight.  In the trailer you got an epic dragon, in the game you got cartoon tentacles and a toenail.

      • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

the other trailers were serious. “a great evil/war is coming. get ready.” this one has tangible humor (2:16 “you cant touch this”, 2:24 “fixing the damage”, 2:32 “sharing is caring”). While the trailer is very well produced, this is the first trailer for wow where we have been shown disney type humor.

        • MiZTiiX

Actually it isn’t the BC trailer had a tauren being turned into a tiny sheep making a “bahhhh” noise and falling down helplessly like bambi. I don’t understand what is so bad about having humor once in a while, it gives you a good feeling. Not everything should be about depression etc

  • Clifford Dutka

This really makes no sense for MoP, the Human Orc fight… Monk enters… Monk is beating them both, lets team up?Isn’t this expansion meant to be horde vs alliance with a sprinkle of panda? With no teaming up?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Willi-Enderle/1668850948 Willi Enderle

he is the carebear in person

    • Sharuko

This isn’t GW2 where mortal enemies (Charr and Human)team up and are on the same team and hug each other.  This is WoW where story and lore matter and are actually good.  Where you can fight your enemy anywhere in the world.

The “war” is supposed to come when the expansion plays out and tension will only increase as time goes on in the expansion.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Actually the charr and humans still very much hate each other don’t shy away from saying it. In fact there is still a holdout faction of humans (the Ebon Vanguard) actively at war with the charr. Also there has been no peace or truce to speak of, it is nothing more than a temporary ceasefire because both sides realize the can’t take on the Elder Dragons if they are too busy trying to kill each other.

    • MiZTiiX

well they dont know who the pandaren is and he is stronger than both so they HAVE to team up in that case

  • http://twitter.com/WadeDMcGinnis Wade D McGinnis

In order to preserve balance, pandas fight pandas??? /Skadoosh!

  • Morticono

gotta love this ;) blizz makes the  best game intro movies ;) and just admit, you all gonna play it when it releases. Me im gonna play Both Gw2 Mop and a little rift ;)

    • Lycronis

I’m not going to play it. Great cinematic aside, this expansion (and WoW in general) doesn’t appeal to me anymore. But for those that are still enjoying WoW, I hope this is a good expansion for them.

  • Morticono

realy think wow looks that bad ? ofc the old races looks old but they soon gonna get replaced ;) myself like the wow look.

  • http://twitter.com/BrockPrescott Brock Prescott

Aside from the stereotypical trolling that we all know this cinematic is receiving or will receive. This cinematic, like the expansion or not, is pretty freaking awesome.

    • Old Ben

It’s about as awesome as any random 5-minute clip off a Jackie Chan movie, and has approximately the same depth. Entertaining and well done, but generic and easily forgettable.

Blizzard still has great artists and animators but, compared to (for example) the WotLK trailer, this one shows a complete lack of originality and epicness.

  • MMO_Doubter

I was cheering for the Orc and Human.

Tell me MoP is about enslaving those uppity pandas.

    • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

yes. the alliance brings in coke and heroine and forces them into one sided trade agreements. pandas fall from greatness and provide the horde a place to have legalized pet battles in a post Michael Vick society.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/SMGRLFM4UASOO7QO26HTHBLIOI Shawn

Blizzard’s trailers have always been good, its the gameplay that just sucks hardcore. Sorry Blizz but I’m not supporting your company if its only worried about its bottom line and not your fans, your beloved customers. I’m just not falling for this mess anymore.

You have done nothing but butcher this awesome IP to the point where I have lost all hope that you will ever realize what you have done to this game, dumbing it down to where its a kiddie fest and the casuals running amok with Pokemon? Really Blizz? No thanks bra, I’m heading to better lands of GW2 where they actually care about their IP and they care about the input from their customers and fanbase.

    • MMO_Doubter

WH Online players thought Mythic was listening.

Fans of SWTOR thought BioWare was listening.

GW2 players will think ANet is listening – for a while.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

To date Arena Net has made dozens of changes to the game, and your dreaded cash shop, based on fan feedback. Just saying.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ScaryCarebear Lara Anne Leith Gordon

I always LOVE their cinematics I just can’t stand their games! Oh well. Still yet again, bloody awesome cinematic :D

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/PQR7QQNEOECDKKZUP7DOSP4ULI Rolando

Kung Fu Panda should get royalties out of this shizzle and you know there will be a lawsuit about it soon enough. WoW looks to be headed in a horrible direction. The entire trailer looks to be a rip off  of KFP and C.

Worst part is they are deliberately undermining their current player base. Changing the entire mechanics so many times while it adds variety makes ppl grumpy if it is not done well. And I would not even have an interest going back to test that crap out.

PS. If the fighting of the monk looks just like it has in the videos of the beta, Blizz is slapping you in the face with those animations. Just saying the dps hes dishing out does not even feel part of combat…. lol pretty ridiculous imo.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jacob-Binder/796699111 Jacob Binder

Pandaren have been in WoW lore since Warcraft 3 which was released in 2002. Kung fu panda was released in 2008. I think you have your facts mixed up when it comes to who is copying who’s ideas.

  • Sharuko

Epic and brilliant trailer, probably the best after the BC trailer. Loved the humor on the side.  No other developer makes CGI’s the way Blizzard does, most make generic cheap trailers.  This describes the expansion perfectly.  A new land to explore with tension between the two factions.  The real war will come as we progress in the expansion and Garrosh acts up more.

MoP might be just as good if not better than BC.  So far everything looks great.

    • Josh Rosenvelt

In terms of raiding and HC dungeons it will never be better then BC but ofc with questing and other side stuff players will get it will be better then BC. Nothing can be worse then Cata so I am happy for the players who are going to continue playing. However with LFR I can never take serious raiding seriously again.Raiding Content should be earned not given.

    • http://twitter.com/MattProtagonist Matt

Hi Sharuko. You seem like a happy, positive individual who does not put down other games or anything. Wait… Oh I’m on a World of Warcraft related video. Ah, so that’s what you’re playing at. Oh well.

      OT: Great trailer, as always.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Justin-Case/100003772398650 Justin Case

Blizzard doesn’t do CGI,if you haven’t found out by now,the reason other devs don’t do these kind of trailers is that a trailer like it costs around 2.5 million dollars. Also, the technology used in the clip is 2 years old, check out the witcher’s 2 enhanced edition trailer, which is older than this,it looks 10 times better

      • Sharuko

Blizzard has a in-house team that does all their trailers/cgi.

      • http://twitter.com/QuietNine Quiet

lol a 2 minute clip for 2.5million. you are smoking some good stuff.

    • MMO_Doubter

      In a word – bullshit.

I will thank you other posters NOT to lump me in with this nutbar.

      • Odeezee

we may not agree on much else, but i agree with you here man. the dude needs help, maybe even Jesus, idk. but if something is not done soon he might not make it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Sorry Doubter, I know it hurts to think about, but a lot of times you make about as much sense as he does. You both make a habit out of baseless assumptions and never stop even when presented evidence that disproves your wild accusations.

At least I get where you’re coming from though. You’re jaded, no harm in that, but there comes a time when you have to stop at accept the fact that not every developer is pure evil.

        • MMO_Doubter

Right, but every suit is, and it’s the suits responsible for things like cash shops.

Wake up. Every cash shop has gone on to screw their players. I see no reason to think this one will be different, and already see signs of it.

These companies care only about your money, not your happiness.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Again, GW1 disproves your logic. That cash shop didn’t “screw” anyone. And as I keep trying to explain to you, this one only has “signs of it” on the surface, if you are deliberately ignoring the finer details and the way things actually fit together. I’ve given you example after example, and after each you stay very silent and just go on to post the same disproved BS to someone else. That is why people are lumping you together with that other troll here; you’re being deliberately hardheaded.

          • MMO_Doubter

I am being hard-hearted, because I have seen what  a sewer this industry is.

On the other hand, you are being soft-headed.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

You are refusing to accept the facts people have been shoving down your throat. As for my being soft headed and unconcerned, that is because I’ve played the betas. I’ve seen the cash shop. I’ve studied it. And I can tell you that there are thousands of extremely vocal people in the GW2 community watching Arena Net’s every move, and rallying for changes when they put something in there we don’t like. And changes have been made. Heck on guru I used my first beta to create an exposé thread telling everyone exactly what was in the shop and what exactly it did because this is a very big issue with us.

Arena Net knows we are not some group of spoiled kids with our parent’s credit cards who will to pay for any random BS thing that ruins the game, and they have worked with the community multiple times for YEARS to make sure the cash shop is acceptable. Those leaked images you mentioned before for example, know how long those items were in the shop? One test. By the next one most were gone and the others were changed to less offensive forms. Likewise you still ignore the fact that the GW1 cash shop was in no way a problem, and instead keep saying that all shops are the same, when that is clearly not true.

          • MMO_Doubter

Tell me what items were removed.

You HAVEN’T seen the cash shop, because you haven’t seen it live. You haven’t seen it two months after release.

You haven’t seen the number-juggling MMOs do right after release.

GW2 defenders repeat the mantra of “it doesn’t matter”, “those things are useless”. Pretty remarkable how ANet has built their new MMO around a store full of ‘useless’ items.

            It doesn’t add up.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

First; things like the random loot bag, map chat megaphone, and magic plant food (thing for armor dyes) have all been removed.

Second; it is live. It has been confirmed finalize and they have been selling gems.

Third; people like cosmetics and connivance. That is what
the cash shop is built on. Everything in there is useless in terms of power. There are no objective advantages to be found, only vaguely subjective ones people like you make too much of a fuss over.

Fourth; This does add up because it is not new, only rare. GW1 did the exact same things and no one complained. It works, it makes money. It just isn’t as easy to do as a predatory cash shop, so most developers don’t
bother to try. But then if Arena Net wanted easy they would have never quit Blizzard and founded their own company.

          • MMO_Doubter

Convenience items ARE power. Leveling faster, gaining gear faster, and gaining buffs easier ARE advantages. More money spent – more advantage.

Let me ask you this – how many forum posters asked ANet to sell gold?

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

That is a subjective advantage. Meaning it isn’t actually an
advantage, you just don’t like it. It is an opinion, you are not actually
gaining an advantage over other people because what you do isn’t competitive.
Frankly most players don’t care how fast someone levels because it doesn’t affect
them. There is no rush to end game, no gear treadmill to keep up with, and no legendary
gear to ruin PvP. Leveling speed DOESN’T MATTER.

And as for the gold selling, that was actually met with a
lot of rage until people realized it also doesn’t matter in an objective sense.
Nothing you can buy with in game gold give you an advantage either.

          • MMO_Doubter

            Total fanboy denial.

            You are a lost soul.

Don’t hate me a few months from now, when you realize I was right.

            -sighs-

Your stupidity and trolling is giving me a headache, I will
waste no more of my time with you. Thank you for your disproval of GW2, be kind
and tell all your likeminded friends to stay away; it is clear you will not
enjoy the game, and I feel confident saying the GW2 community would not want
            you.

Sorry, I had to laugh when Kung Fu Panda showed his face. What a farce.

  • http://twitter.com/Ricksterness Rick

I’m calling it right now, at the end of this expansion into the next one it will be one faction.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No way, with WoW 5.0.1, releasing on Aug 28 woot!, the war between the Horde and Alliance heats up when the Horde destroy Theramore.  This expansion is all about getting the Pandarians to join your faction, Horde or Alliance.

      • http://twitter.com/Ricksterness Rick

Yes, I know. I’m saying after Pandaria. The next one will be single faction. They gave both factions the same race. They’ve been teasing on and off that the Horde and Alliance can fight well side by side so I see it as no factions last expansion to kill Sargeras.

  • fallos24

still dont understand why the pandas would ever want to join the horde or alliance, but still a cool trailer.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

On a separate island(?, spoilers) you got to get them young, before they make it to
      Pandaria.

It’s very clear that this site has turned into the wow/Blizzard hater place and is now the guild wars 2 lovers place. After reading comments here and on several other sites it’s obvious.

Just face it people, no matter what blizzard had made all of you would have complained someway or another. If they would hand out 10000 dollars to every person that saw this trailer, you would still bitch about it.

I feel sorry for all of you.

Oh, when looking at all of these comments I look back at how it was right before swtor came out… But congratulations gw2 lovers, you are the winner of being worst.

BTW, I will be playing gw2. I also play swtor.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

It was the same way during Rift, GamebreakerTV was all about Rift.  I suspect Guildcast will stick around longer than the Sanctum, because they went with paid writers instead of podcast hosts.

    • Diequex

Is that a reference to this specific article? Simply browsing the comments most people either praise the trailer or are objective about it/WoW. I haven’t seen any belligerent fanboyism or trolling (yet). Is it really a ‘hating’ when someone does not enjoy a trailer? Lol.

Personally indifferent toward WoW, since I have not been subbed to WoW since vanilla. I’m personally not a fan of the trailer, either. So. I guess I’m a hater, somehow.

    • http://www.facebook.com/justin.munyer Justin Munyer

This is more of just the internet as a whole. People will ALWAYS find something to complain about. If you identify the trolls and look past them you will see the actual underlying discussion.

    • Odeezee

sorry, but i call BULLSH!T! WoW players are ALWAYS the one who start some sh!t when they feel threatened by a new game. they are always the one’s saying it’s not a WoW killer when no one has even mentioned whether it will be. they are the one’s who are highly insecure about their game and throw around the 12 million subs number like Blizz acquired that at release and has maintained them ever since. they are always like if your game does not have this or that like WoW has it will fail, like all WoW players are single-handedly supporting the MMORPG genre, so if WoW players are not pleased by your game it will automatically fail. they never research a game before giving a VERY uninformed opinion that leads to a thread going to sh!t as people have to correct misinformation and battle Strawman arguments.

player, like myself, who have left WoW long ago do not even think of WoW anymore unless people are waxing nostalgic. we don’t like the game anymore and have moved on. it’s the current WoW population that seems to be hellbent on trying to get those of us who left back in the fold and when we refuse they act as though we are misguided and mistaken and spew childish remarks like, “see you are launch, noob” or “you will be back after a month with your tail between your legs”.

making generalization does not help your argument as not everyone thinks the way you describe, if you want to have an elevated discourse then i am afraid it starts with you.

      • http://twitter.com/crusadernero Crusadernero

Maybe I was a bit hard on the generalisation of it all, sorry for that.

I guess im just tierd of reading so many comments that just spew up bad stuff about the endless discussion “wow is dead” “gw2 pwns wow” “wow pwns gw2″ and so on. Maybe part of my post was a bit of a rant. Sorry about that to.

Luckily I found some good forum posts on some sites that has decent discussions going. Think i’ll stay there:P

         Well said.

  • samhainous

For one, pandas in a chinese/kung fu setting did not originate with jack black. Blizzard had pandas in warcraft 3 back in 02. Kung Fu Panda plopped in 08. Who should sue who? The divide on this xpac is pretty funny. Can we all agree that if you like, hate, or are neutral about this game,  you’re stupid? That way nobody is left out and we can all be dumb together!

    • http://twitter.com/crusadernero Crusadernero

yes agree! We are all dumb!

    • http://twitter.com/Shiandi_85 Helen Pomfret

No it’s the mannerism of the panda that makes it so like Kung Fu Panda. Tbh that cinematic was the last chance for Blizz to get me excited enough to buy MoP. It’s a great cinematic, if it was advertising a kids film I’d be super excited, but not for WOW sorry.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Too bad they wasted their talent on making the two of the best selling PC games of all time.

  • Kicknpups

Great Cinematic!..Didn’t Tera also make great Cinematics? along with SWOTR and every other MMO out there…Granted Blizzard cinematics are just amazing! Yet in the end it’s still WoW.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dean-Oyebo/665286600 Dean Oyebo

However you feel about their games, blizzard can certainly make a gorgeous looking cinematic that’s for sure. Perhaps even the best in the business right now.

    • Josh Rosenvelt

I agree with this, I loved tbc and WOTLK up until end of ulduar, the game is too dumbed down for me now, but blizz still know how to do a good cinematic.

  • http://twitter.com/ByronLumley Byron Lumley

Good humor, the best action we have seen, traditional Horde
Vs Alliance. But doesn’t compare to the epic trailers that were built
in story and law. Watching Illidan or Arthas gave me chills. In the case
of Arthas I returned to the game, just because of that trailer.

    • BlessYouu

While I do agree it didn’t give me chills like the BC or Wotlk Cinematic’s, I don’t think for this expansion there would’ve been a way to do that seeing as there is no “big baddy” at the end of this expansion, it reflects what they kinda talked about at blizzcon, exploration and adventure in MoP. It was nice to see a mix of action and a small bit of humor and the characters sort of reminded me of WC3 (personal opinion).

I’m betting though in the next two years or so in the next expansion there will be a big baddy and it will most likely go back to the feel of giving you chills like Arthas or Illidan gave.

    Can someone explain me something?

I wanted to learn about Pandaren lore, so I just played through Warcraft 3 and the frozen throne expansion. I finished the campaigns on both games, but the Pandaren never showed up once.

There was an option to get a Pandaren hero in the tavern, but that was only in the custom games.

Is there a book that I could pick up that goes into details?

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

With anything anymore, go to the wowwiki.  The articles discuss how Pandarens were originally from Kalimdor and aligned with the night elves, but broke off relations when the  night elves obsession with magic got out of control.

  • http://twitter.com/videobuzzard David Manchester

Loving the trailer, great reminder of the Orcs Vs Humans roots done with stunning animation as usual and some humour. Not as epic as Wotlk or Cataclysm but fits the change of pace and style they are going for I think.

  • Keigh

Really good cinematic, I cant wait to play a monk.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kyle-Rogers/100000222205677 Kyle Rogers

Just looked at by itself, the cinematic was pretty cool, I usually love any cinematic that Blizzard puts out. But I continue to be unexcited about MoP, and I’ve play WoW since vanilla.
Just to point one thing out in this video…nothing says ALL OUT WAR BETWEEN HORDE AND ALLIANCE like human going, “here’s a stick…lets work together!”

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

It doesn’t last long, the Horde and Alliance start fighting over establishing influence with the Pandarens.  This cinematic just establishes why the factions want to win the Pandarens to their side.

  • Kelly Jolliffe

I’ve got only a few things to say. First: f**k the haters, man. From a completely objective  standpoint, this was one of Blizzard’s best cinematics ever. While the vanilla cinematic is still my favourite, this easily beats out both The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, with only Cataclysm being able to boast a better (i.e. more raw) cinematic experience. However, more than any expansion cinematic before it, it simply “speaks” to the nature of WarCraft and what made WoW so popular to begin with.

  • http://www.facebook.com/david.hallyburton David Hallyburton

Ouch. I figured that the game may have a little trouble with some of Blizzard’s best and brightest leaving to pursue other opportunities, but I had no idea the guys left would be so ridiculed.

Its a great trailer but its just that.  To rate a game based off a trailer like that is unrealistic.  That being a said I am a big fan of this animation that blizzard does still want to see a movie done by them.

    • Josh Rosenvelt

I agree, great trailer, it’s certainly better then what I experienced in the beta with everything being so faceroll including scenerios and HC dungeons. It’s never been easier so i guess the trailer truely represents casualcraft.

2:16 “you cant touch this”, 2:24 “fixing the damage”, 2:32 “sharing is caring”. While the trailer is very well produced, its clear throughout that it pandars to a younger less serious audience.

      • http://twitter.com/TuxPants Light Yagami

If they were targeting adults they probably wouldn’t have done the cheesy crap where the Ally and Horde decide to stop killing each other because of the panda. “Oh noes, a battle panda! What are we going to do, little Horde buddy?”

    So…. a 50 Monk plays with a level 20 orc and human… cuteness.

From all the comments, there will be monks for as far as the visual eye can see.

I do agree that if they use these kinds of animations for a Warcraft movie, it would be so much better than a live action film.  Not sure if that was the intent, but just sayin’….

  • http://www.facebook.com/juan.chavez.71619 Juan Chavez

I wish the humans actually looked like that. But in game their cheek bones look bulbous and their body structure is that of a 99 cent store action figure.  UPDATE THEIR MODEL ALREADY!

It was a nice trailer. Didn’t feel as epic. But amusing and nice to watch. Perhaps they should go into the movie making business a la Pixar xD

    • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

But don’t you know how hard it is for the team of one of the most profitable games in the world to go back and redo all of those character models and the armor for them?  It’s so hard, guys!  I mean, it would  take about as much effort as introducing a new race to the game with all new models, which would be quite a tremendous undertaking!

      • Old Ben

        > But don’t you know how hard it is for the team of one of the most
        > profitable games in the world to go back and redo all of those
        > character models and the armor for them?

It’s certainly a lot easier than it would be for a less profitable company, no?

        > it would take about as much effort as introducing a new race to the
        > game with all new models,

A new race usually needs completely different rigging, new models, new animations, etc..

They can update the old models simply by increasing the texture resolution, tessellating the base model, checking it for intersections, and fixing the problems. It’s time-consuming, but it’s not very “creative” work. It’s something that a team of 10 or 20 intern 3D artists could easily get through in the time between two expansions, and Blizzard could certainly afford to hire them.

I don’t think it would have a significant impact on their sales, though. Most WoW players like repetition and are afraid of change (that’s why they’re WoW players, after all). They wouldn’t react well to seeing their characters or their gear changed.

For new players, the lack of quality of the older areas / models (compared to the new ones) is actually part of Blizzard’s sales pitch. “Want to play with more detailed models and in more detailed areas? Well, in that case buy all the expansions straight away and level a pandaren instead of buying just the base game and leveling an orc.”

        • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

Not sure if you know I was being sarcastic.

          • Old Ben

Well, I _hoped_ you were, but around here sarcasm seems to pass for support.

Anyway, my point was that I kind of understand their reasons for not doing it. It’s not just to avoid the initial investment, it’s because they think it might end up annoying their current user base and _lowering_ their profits.

  • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

I saw the “true question” coming from a mile away, and by the way, the answer is gear with bigger numbers.

The real message of this trailer, though, is, “Look how much more awesome this new race is than the old ones, and also, we totally didn’t pick pandas to try to reel in a new generation of younger players.  Look how badass this panda is.  PANDA CANNOT LOSE!  So buy the expansion and come back to our game for a while, guys.  And please ignore those other MMOs, especially all the ones that don’t charge a sub fee.  Because that sub fee on top of the expansion prices is needed to pay for the servers and customer support, and to keep your information secure, and to have smooth game and expansion launches. Nah, just ****ing with you.  We blow it all on booze and strip clubs.  LOL, guys.  Give us more money, please.”

Man, I guess humans and orcs just SUCK now.   What a bunch of unenlightened and unskilled morons those old races are.  Sorry, old characters.   : P

    • MMO_Doubter

So, GW2′s cash shop is to keep the servers running, customer support, security…

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Yeah basically. What is wrong with that? Seriously Doubter, I can understand being concerned about a cash shop, been there myself, but you really like to bitch about those “subjective advantages.” I think you need a new hobby. Try table top RPGs; those are fun. And no cash shop.

        • MMO_Doubter

It sure doesn’t SEEM like you are concerned. Not even about those lottery boxes – which are a CLASSIC F2P scam mechanic.

As for tabletop RPGs? Yeah, no cash shop (technically), but TONS of hardcopy DLC, and a new edition every few years. Plenty of scams there, too.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Except for one very big difference; the keys are free. You get one every time you finish a personal story chapter. In addition to that they can be found as rare drops. Those keys are not a cash shop exclusive by any stretch of even your paranoid imagination. Yes the cash shop does make it easier, and way faster, to obtain them, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay real money for them. Furthermore the things in those boxes, that are exclusively drops by the way, are all frivolous. I know; I’ve opened several of them in the betas and stress tests (and didn’t buy keys to do so).

You have a chance to get a few gathering tools (big deal you can buy those with gold), some random shape shifting tonics (cosmetic fun items only, can’t be used in any form of combat), random cash shop boosts (better to buy the boosts directly, or better yet, just craft the damned things with the cooking skill), or a piece of level appropriate loot that isn’t as good as crafted stuff and won’t make a damned but of difference at max level anyway because of the power cap on gear.

          • Old Ben

            > Except for one very big difference; the keys are free.

Even if there was no other way to get the keys, it would be irrelevant (for example, there’s no way to get crate keys in TF2 without someone buying them).

But, in both games, the stuff you get from the box is no better than the stuff you get simply by playing the game.

WoW addicts just can’t understand the concept of a “classical” RPG, which is all about exploring a living world, and not some kind of never-ending race to get slightly bigger numbers.

GW2 isn’t “pay to win” simply because there’s no way to “win” it. And if you go into it with that mentality, you’re definitely going to lose.

             Well said, Old Ben.

          • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

Yeah, I’m really going to lose a lot of sleep over someone getting XP 20% faster than me for an hour or whatever it is.  You obviously don’t understand how ArenaNet handles itemization if you are calling those boxes a “scam.”  There is nothing in them that is even remotely important by any stretch of the imagination.

Sure, you don’t know what they might do in the future, but any online game could change what they do later on down the road.  I’m not overly interested in hypotheticals.

          • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Some people define an increase in leveling speed as an advantage. I refer to this type of thing as a “subjective advantage” because it is based entirely on opinion, at least within the context of GW2, and isn’t actually an objective, or factual, advantage. On the one hand I find it ironic that people bitch about GW2 having “no endgame” and then they bitch about leveling speed as if there is a race to endgame. It makes no sense; if there is no endgame why are you worried about racing there? Kind of a contradiction if you ask me.

That said a lot of players, myself included, don’t and have never cared in the slightest how fast someone else rushes through the leveling content. Heck I’m actually planning to level slowly in GW2 because the game is so exploration heavy (I once said PvE in GW2 is closer to playing Skyrim than WoW). So for players like us things like exp boosters appearing in a cash shop are irrelevant; we likely won’t use them, do care how else does, and don’t see them as having any worth whatsoever. However for people like Doubter who insist that increasing leveling speed is an advantage things like those boosters are a deal breaker. And, of course, this being the internet most of them don’t understand the difference between their own opinions and facts.

Personally I pity “gamers” like that. Clearly everything for them is all about progression and “winning” the game, the whole concept of playing because it is fun seems lost. Or in some cases they can no longer have fun without that kind of addictive treadmill. Honestly I wonder at what point the game industry cracked open Doubter’s skull and replaced his brain with a Skinner Box. The man seem to think he is one of the people not blinded by industry hype when in fact he is still very much addicted to their drugs; like a paranoid stoner.

I liked the trailer a lot, really nice presentation without taking itself too seriously.  It’s looked like a great expansion for a while and this trailer legit made me more excited for it.  Yes there are other excellent games coming out, and I’ll have a lot of fun playing them, but I’m perfectly fine having fun with more than one game.

        • http://glacius.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Glacius

Why is that?  The lack of repetitive grind for a slot pull at loot at the end?  Yeah, it won’t appeal to people who play for a never-ending trickle gear with ever-increasing numbers to fight enemies with ever-increasing numbers, just like the first game didn’t.

I used to like that sort of stuff, but having played so many RPGs in my life (not just MMOs), it’s just old hat to me at this point.

    • Josh Rosenvelt

hahahaha very true, well it was good up until end of Ulduar.

  • Jay

TBH I expected more… Blizzard is known for making some of the best cinematic trailers in the industry. I think every trailer before this was expertly crafted, but this one is lacking depth and overall epicness. Seems almost like they just took the sketched frame by frame layout, put in 3D, then said, “good enough”. I got no overall story from it, unlike previous trailers… Where was the threat? Where was the “war”craft?

No matter how the game took a turn for the worse, I always gave Blizzard credit for their amazing trailers. This fell way short of their mark for me… It’s really not the same company anymore.

  • http://www.kaiketsu.enjin.com/ Corey “Crimzen”

    Honestly,
it kind of felt like a Pixar film to me…not trying to hate, but I
remember when classic WoW had its cinematic trailer..now that was
EPIC..or burning crusade or Wrath…but this had a “how to tame your
dragon” feel. (didn’t want to say Kung Fu
panda or I’d get flamed lol) Idk, It definitely seems like its going
for the more younger demographic imo. Was a nice trailer, but I keep getting that younger audience feel. If I was someone watching this on TV and I had no idea what world of warcraft was, then I might think this was for a younger audience. On the other hand If I was a kid trying to get my mom to buy this for me and I showed her this cutsey cinematic, then I’m pretty sure I’d walk home with a copy of MoP that day. Idk, Blizz…I just don’t know..lol

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Noxy-Flex/100002631386594 Noxy Flex

BC Trailer was the most epic……… followed by the WOTLK one with LK and that dragon

    • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

It’s that dumb look on the human’s face when he slowly passes his spear to the orc, that sums up the entire vibe of the trailer. It is great CGI, no doubt, as a student of such I am highly impressed by even the smallest details because I know just how much work goes into EVERYTHING they showed. But as an adult I have to say this felt like watching a cartoon. It started strong, but then it downgraded pretty hard. Maybe the expansion will be good, maybe not, I’ve not played a beta so I’ve no place to make that judgement, but the trailer is clearly aimed at children. Or more to the point the “tweens” age group; those kids who are old enough that they want to feel grown up with a dark and gritty trailer, but are still firmly in the cuddly and cute phase.

  • http://twitter.com/Hengman14 Chettra Heng

  • Old Ben

Good quality CGI, as usual (Blizzard’s CGI department is on par with any studio on this planet), but I’m not sure if putting such emphasis on the playable races is a good idea.

Seeing the actual game models after seeing these is going to be a bit of a shock to some people. In previous trailers they were usually good at making things look more epic and more about the world itself.

This is just a (very detailed and well animated, but ultimately very superficial) kung fu sequence. Is that it? “We have kung fu pandas and they’re better than the orcs and the humans put together!” A bunch of platitudes (“We fight for things that are worth fighting for!”), nothing about the story, no sense of grandiosity.

10/10 for execution, 2/10 for imagination.

  • mgnexus

I normally really love seeing all Blizzard cinematics, but this one fell flat for me. Course, I’m still waiting for a trailer that can top the epic and intense “YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!” Burning Crusade trailer. Still my favorite of the bunch.

    • Old Ben

The BC cinematic oozed more epicness out of a rectangle changing color from blue to green than this entire trailer gets out of 5 million polygons.

Like someone wrote on YouTube about the Lich King trailer (after seeing the one for MoP), “if this cinematic was released today, Arthas and Sindragosa would slip on the ice”.

    • djsjr

The Lich King was way better than that, sorry! :P

  • Azzras

    gay

  • Jant0n

Really good CGI work Blizzard always does a phenomenal job with it, but the feeling wasn’t there for me. All the other cinematics really made me want to jump in the game and get into the action; this one failed to give me that feeling. Also, it gives me more of an impression that the alliance and horde are teaming up to fight the pandaren when that isn’t the case.

That was so fucking awesome, but is it just me, or does this expansion seem aimless?
Maybe it’s a prelude to Emerald Dream or something.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

The arrival of the Horde and Alliance cause alot of problems.  They bring back the Sha with all their fighting.   The Mogu get worked up and want to take over the world. Standard crap when warring factions shipwreck on a peaceful nation.

  • Jasongvh

Well I am sure a lot of 10 – 12 year olds are gonna be begging there parents to buy this for them after seeing this.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Better than that, with the release of WoW 5.0.4 players can play any race.

So if you want to play the free to play version of WoW, you can now add goblin, blood elf, worgen, draenei, or pandaren to your leveling.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Interesting. I may dive back in for that, simply because I want to know how poorly the handle my favorite fictional monster. Not saying Blizzard is a bunch of screw-ups, just that nobody can handle lycans properly in my opinion.

        • MMO_Doubter

The Worgen running animation will make you cry. I couldn’t play one.

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

I kind of liked the Worgen running animation, made them easy to spot, so I could shoot them.  Not like them nasty gnomes, slippery little suckers, escaping all over the place.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Why do game developers spend so much money on high quality CGI trailers? Because they know that the gameplay isn’t interesting enough to attract new players.

    • MMO_Doubter

      True.

How many trailers has GW2 put out?

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

So far, I’ve found 4 official trailers.
Guild Wars 2 Teaser Trailer –  Aug 20, 2009 (lol)
        Guild Wars 2 Manifesto trailer
Guild Wars 2 Gamescom Trailer 2011
Guild Wars 2 Get Ready trailer  2012 (this is the release announcement trailer)

Guess they didn’t make much of an impact.

        • Old Ben

          > Guess they didn’t make much of an impact.

People were busy enjoying the actual game.

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Agreed, I’m having a lot of fun playing Guild Wars 2, a little tired of the stress tests. Log in for the last stress test, but didn’t actually play.   Decided to work on my spriest on The Daily Blinks guild instead.

I just answered the question about how many trailers did Arenanet release. I was surprised the teaser trailer was released in 2009 and had another trailer at last year’s gamecom.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

There is also the races introduction trailer, and several short profession skill teasers you can easily find all over youtube and the official site. And while concept art is heavily used in all…err…most, of these trailers for artistic effect (as it is in the game itself, it was a stylistic choice), they have never been shy with their gameplay.

Edit: And the recent barrage of game mode introduction trailers. There are currently thirteen trailers posted on the official site in all. And that isn’t all of them as the early trailers have been removed.

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

yeah, didn’t count them as trailers, GW2 has 88 videos on their youtube site.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

There are thirteen, all featuring lots of gameplay, on their official web
        page and yourtube channel.

      • Lycronis

The better question would be, how many CGI trailers has GW2 put out? Nearly every trailer released for GW2 consists entirely of in-game footage, not CGI.

        • Old Ben

So in-game footage is not Computer-Generated? Man, those actors are good! ;-)

          • Lycronis

Bah, you got me there! :P

OK, most of the GW2 trailers are not pre-rendered cinematics, but rather in-game recorded footage.  :D

          • Old Ben

I could be mean now and say that the game doesn’t let you control the camera that way, so they’re not actually in-game footage (just movies generated by the game engine).

            Machinima, if you will. :-P

    • Carl Dafw

To appeal to a wider audience and just to get people thinking about it that would otherwise not.  To be fair Blizzard has had GC cinematics for Warcraft games since their RTS days so it’s also a bit of a tradition now.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

BTW, this isn’t a CGI trailer, its the game cinematic.   The actual trailer was released awhile back.

      • Old Ben

That was the “announcement trailer”. This is the “launch trailer” (which is typically used as the opening cinematic when the game actually launches, but until then is used as a trailer / teaser / ad for the game).

        • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No where did Blizzard list this as the launch trailer. They clearly indicate this is the game cinematic.

    • Old Ben

Trailers aren’t demos, they’re ads. And good ads are about evoking an atmosphere that represents your product or (at least) makes people want to buy it.

You can’t sum up WoW’s gameplay in a 3 minute movie. Capturing its sheer boredom and repetition would require at least 3 _hours_ of sitting in front of the AH watching inane chat scroll by and then going through Hour of Twilight ten times in a row.

The problem with this trailer isn’t that it’s a CGI sequence or that it doesn’t give details about gameplay mechanics. The problem is that it’s completely uninspired and uninspiring.

Compare this to the WotLK trailer or the Siege of Neverwinter Part 2 trailer. They’re also (out-of-game-engine) CGI, but they set up a narrative, they create an atmosphere. They reassure you that the people making the game (or, at least, the people making the trailer) know how to tell a story.

This one could just be a CGI remake of any random scene from a Jackie Chan movie.

The only bit of “story” viewers get out of this is “the Horde and the Alliance will join forces but still be defeated by kung fu pandas”, which goes completely against what this expansion is supposed to be. Maybe it was a Freudian slip; the director’s way of letting us know what he thinks this expansion will do to WoW’s core.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

The cinematic makes to whole starting area easier to understand.   Now I understand why the Horde and Alliance go back to their base camps and start attempting to get the Pandarens to join their faction.

Now it make sense why my Tauren Druid is collecting ten gore livers for the Pandaren farmer, I want Chen on my side.

BTW, if the horde and alliance had a proper trinity, they would have been fine.
But clearly the Bewmaster (tank) Level 90 elite Monk was OP for the two level 85 dps with broken gear.

        • Old Ben

          > The cinematic makes to whole starting area easier to understand.

No, it doesn’t. And, even if it did, that’s not the role of a trailer.

Go watch the BC or Wrath trailers again. That’s how it’s done.

          > Now it make sense why my Tauren Druid is collecting
          > ten gore livers for the Pandaren farmer

Congratulations on solving that great mystery of existence.

          • http://www.facebook.com/ptabayoyong Paul Tabayoyong

It does make the starting area make sense! They are fighting over the new land and potential resources and allies they discover upon initially crashing from their previous naval battle at the beginning of the trailer!
A trailer as defined by several dictionaries such as Merriam Webster, Dictionarydotcom, and others is an advertisement or preview “teasing” the final product. You don’t get to decide what the role of trailer is. Since this was a cinematic trailer, it did its job well in the confined definition.

Take a chill pill Mr Ben and enjoy the ride. I have room on my many multi-passenger mounts if you would like an invite. This is about the adventure and I for one am glad I will get to savor it all along the way!

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Is not a trailer, tts the game cinematic.  It just shows why the horde is not trying to kick Chen’s ass every time you see him.

          • Old Ben

A “game cinematic” just means “a movie related to the game”. This might end up being used as the game’s opening movie, but since MoP hasn’t been released yet, for now it’s effectively serving as a teaser / trailer / ad.

And, unlike Blizzard’s previous launch trailers (which were excellent at creating an epic atmosphere), this is just your run-of-the-mill kung-fu fight sequence. Very well done, from a technical point of view, but extremely shallow.

If you think this comes anywhere close to the Wrath launch trailer, your epicness detector is broken.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ptabayoyong Paul Tabayoyong

The set up was brilliant! A naval battle gone awry, two opposing soldiers stranded on a strange land and then fighting for survival. A native appears to squash the conflict. The duo can’t seem to win against the native so the form a temporary alliance perfectly set up by a well timed joke to lighten the heavy “live or die” atmosphere. The battle ends with the mists clearing and the alliance and horde soldiers seeing exactly what they are in for in this strange world.

Nice use of the “kung fu panda” term. You my friend get +9001 internets for the completely original use of a term that will never die despite the origins that are based in fact around the entire Pandaren race, well before the Pixar movie of the same name ever released. /applaud to you good sir!

        • Old Ben

          > The set up was brilliant!

You should watch SpongeBob, it would blow your mind!

Next you are going to tell me the Horde and Alliance toons setup housekeeping in a a pineapple under the sea. BTW, the Alliance toon’s name is Patrick.

          • Old Ben

            > in a a pineapple under the sea.

No, that would require depth and imagination.

  • Tenthletter1979

Nothing says Alliance vs. Horde like an intro cinematic where they team up.

As if I hadn’t already lost faith in Actiblzzion, this trailer flies agains everything Metzen was ranting about when MoP was announced. Though to be fair I’m sure he was high at the time, so he probably doesn’t remember.

    • MMO_Doubter

Well said. I doubt very much that AvH will be a serious part of MoP. PvP requires that SOMEONE LOSES. MMO players in general are timid little bitches who can’t bear failure.

PvE gets nerfed, and PvP rewards failure.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kyle-Rogers/100000222205677 Kyle Rogers

Exactly what I said down below, as soon as I saw that part in the trailer I was like…wait, shouldnt they be killing each other?

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No, this sets up why the Horde and Alliance are fighting over gaining influence with the Pandaren.       The Horde and Alliance will be battling over control of the quest hubs, trying to curry favor from the Pandarens.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ptabayoyong Paul Tabayoyong

You do know it was meant to be a joke right? The comedic timing on it was perfect! How did you not see that? It will very much be horde vs alliance and the two were fighting but obviously could not beat the native warrior who interrupted the battle. Instincts took over and they attacked together. It sets up where they want to go with the expansion very well. Kudo on a job well done Blizz!

      • Tenthletter1979

I’m well aware that this entire expansion is a joke, started April 1, 2002. Problem is it should have stayed that way.

      • Old Ben

        > Instincts took over and they attacked together.

If your “instinct” as an orc is to team up with a human (especially a human who has been actively trying to kill you), maybe the Horde just isn’t for you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nae-Bodee/100002134184112 Nae Bodee

Don’t get me wrong I love the animation and level of detail in this trailer, but DAE feel it was a little anticlimactic at the end?
Their vanilla, BC and LC trailers were awe-inspiring! It built up to an event that was very enthralling and had meaning. This was like “Two enemies become friends, meet a panda and have happy super fun time” Where’s the depth? Where’s the enthusiasm? I went back and watched the LC trailer after this and even to this day, It gives me goosebumps. That’s what this should have done.

Poor show Bliz.. But I can kinda understand your direction with this so I’m not going to start flaming. Nor do I really care for this expansion so.. Meh.

  • Andrew Schulte

Anyone else think this cinematic should have stopped after the first 35 seconds?

    • Old Ben

Not trying to do a Douglas Adams pun here, but I would have gone for 42.

I actually thought it was a pretty good cinematic. This is coming from a guy that thought the first MoP trailer was an april fool’s joke

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UAYHCFIN5SKD6E7TLBZMKN6CVM Cameron

It reminded me of Kung-Fu Panda

      • http://twitter.com/Bahska Bahska

No matter what they did for a trailer someone was gonna make that fail joke.

        • Old Ben

Joke? The trailer shows a kung-fu fighting panda (and very little else). What else did you expect people to be reminded of?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Keller/100000218559506 Chris Keller

quality of the animation is good and all, but this is a horrible trailer of what some of the long time players were told to expect. What part of putting the War back in Warcraft involves sharing your weapon with someone who was just trying to kill you.

in hind sight i guess they really don’t have to advertise to people like me… just to the casuals

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

The cinematic really helps with understanding the Pandaren starting zone.  Horde and Alliance return to their base camps, continue to kill each other, but now attempt to win the Pandarens to their side.  First time through the 85 starting zone, I was wondering why  we were attempting to win favor with the Pandarens, now we know.  Kill Alliance, win Pandarens for the Horde.

It is hilarious how, the new “in” term to use is casuals.   It’s no longer enough to be a hardcore gamer, now other players have to be casuals.

  • http://twitter.com/northernlad55 northernlad55

lol if only the combat and graphics were like the trailer … answer?… nope

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

The monk combat is really amazing, a lot of fun.

      • http://www.facebook.com/erko.umal Erko Umal

Ofc it’ s amazing because it’ s something new saddly it won’ t be that amazing after couple of months :)

        • http://twitter.com/Bahska Bahska

Yep like every other game the new shinyness fades.

          • Cody Moody

After? 8 years? Bahaha. Any other game is lucky to get to year one without Free to Play.

          • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

Monks are fun to play, alot going on there.

  • Josh Rosenvelt

Don’t forget people this war between alliance and horde is a pve one, meaning it won’t be like Tauren Mill battles we had back in vanilla with world pvp. Incase you haven’t noticed you can check wowprogress and there might be 1 or 2 servers where the balance is fairly decent. The majority of realms however are either horde or alliance heavy.

The big exodus from wow this expansion won’t be from PVE casuals but from PVP players who know arenanet has a shot at making there PVP a e-sport. OFC 50% of the PVE hardcores have left the building already which is why 25 man raiding guilds are down by over 85% this expansion.

    • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

No, there is a chance World PVP could come back.   With cross realm zones, the Pandaren zones could be full. With the quest hubs and Horde/Alliance temples sitting right on top of each other.

  • Draugmahl

I watched the WotLK trailer again the other day just randomly and it still awes me from a lore and presentation perspective. This? This is corny and boring…

  • DoctorOverlord

Orcs and Humans are what started Warcraft.   This trailer shows them both getting humiliated and faceplanted by a furry that started as a in-game joke.   That just strikes the wrong cord.

    Nice CG though.

    • Sharuko

Level 90 vs. Level 85s is not a fair fight.

      • http://twitter.com/dularr Dularr

It is a level 90 elite Brewmaster Monk vs two level 85 dps with broken gear.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/T3XQEBBJMXVQSI2W2BN53KOIZU John

This is what wow is becoming?  I am glad that I quit this game after six months because didn’t have the pvp I was looking for.  But now GW2 is coming out soon and should finally have the pvp I am looking for which is objective base pvp.  The beta for GW2 has really impressed me so far. A lot of people that came from wow that think the game should be a lot like wow needs to get a clue. An mmo that is different than wow in a lot of ways is not a bad thing at all.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

I find it really amusing that when a new MMO comes out that is a lot like WoW everyone says it will fail because it is a “WoW clone” and then when a new MMO comes out that is different from WoW they say it will fail because it isn’t enough like WoW.

That said I’m curious; do you favor sPvP or WvW? Personally I am a WvW junkie; most enjoyment I’ve ever gotten out of PvP.

Ive been playing WoW for about 4 years, maybe more now, and i must say- this was so good! when i first saw the ships i was like “dafuq? did blizz just steal some pirates of the caribbean footage?”  because it looked so real. I loved the way the human and orc models were too, and the timing on the comedic release was perfect. And to anyone that says its stupid for them to team up, i ask you. Why? If you are fighting, then someone interrupts you and you cant beat them? yeah, instinct says to team up with the enemy of your enemy (which at the time is the panda) so you and your original enemy can get back to killing one another. . . or you could just let the panda beat the shit out of you both because you’re too “cool” to team up. Go Logic!

Aaaanyways. Yep. Loved it. Looks amazing. Funny. Introduces the Pandaren nicely, and even reveals to us just why/how the panda on the box cover’s (who im assuming is chen stormstout) hat got a piece broken from the rim. those little details really blow me away. 5/5 blizzard!

  • Josh Rosenvelt

What does Justin Bieber and MoP have in common? They both catering to 10 year olds.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Hamilton/1150725720 Ryan Hamilton

I find it ironic how detailed and badass they make the characters look. Even though you know when you get in game, it’s gonna look incredibly outdated.

    • Cody Moody

As opposed to what MMO? Tera Online’s slutty cat preteens?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Hamilton/1150725720 Ryan Hamilton

Stand down fanboy stand down. Game is old, game still looks old. If you like the look that’s awesome. I think it’s lazy. Update animations already, it’s not 2004 anymore.

    • Erik Jonsson

Ofc the cinematic is more detailed, it’s a normal rendered video made in Maya or something

  • John McCracken

Awesome trailer! Can’t wait for the movie!

Its not kung fu panda , just a panda doin kung fu.No similarities whatsoever.

  • Josh Rosenvelt

Alright I just showed my 8 year old Niece the cinematic, she was like what is this until the panda made a entrance and straight away she said KungFu Panda! So you can’t fault people for making the similarities.

    • Sharuko

Yeah that happens, showed my niece the Asura cinematic and she goes “Teletubbies”.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.hornsby.7 Jonathan Hornsby

Interesting. Stupidity must run in your family.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/T3XQEBBJMXVQSI2W2BN53KOIZU John

It can’t be Kung fu Panda because that is better than this! The pandas looked way better in Warcraft 3 anyways.

  • http://www.facebook.com/malek.toumi1 Malek Toumi

I have to say that’s one hell of a nice cinematic, amazing detail and the comic moment was just perfect. I still like wotlk cinematic the best though

  • joe weise

    Thattttt shitttt is balllllerrrrr

  • RockerDC3

Meh. The game never lives up to the trailer. They, like EA/Bioware, rely on unrealstic trailers to hype a lackluster game. Hype is for the gullible.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kyle-Eggers/100000868131517 Kyle Eggers

This trailer seems and feels much more like a cartoon then any of the other WoW trailer’s.  The first one was great the Nightelf female druid was very realistic, as was the Bloodelf, and Draenei.  The WotL and Cata trailers were different but still had that realistic feel to it.  The attitude and feel to this is very cartoon like.  The human looks to big, and I know many of you will hate me for saying this but it really does remind me of Kung Fu Panda.

  • Ian Mansfield

will blizzard just stop makeing subpar games and just make a movie….. their cinematics are so much better than their games

  • Steven Thompson

Best trailer yet, but it just makes me think “god, I wish I could see that good of a trailer for a new Blizz game”.

  • http://twitter.com/NerdnGeekInc Raven Frosth

This is Really Cool CGI Cinematic, Game or Opening for a Movie.  I’ve noticed that there is too many poeple out there in the MMO Genre that Hate what some companies do, and are very hypocritical of their product, but still play their Games.  It is what it is, Leave it at that.  Don’t like keep your negative opinions to your selves.  It might be directed at the younger age group, and maybe it is,  It’s a Marketing Strategy, where on some aspects it prevail and on others it Fails.

I Wish the Cinamatic was bit longer, but that’s my opinion.  And if you wish to Enjoy it, I guess you are going to have to play the game to get more out of it.

  • ash.titcombe

Awsome trailer, makes me think we blizz doesn’t make a WoW movie or somthing like that just to go over everything that happend and such.. would be kinda odd.. and entertaining, like.. a movie of 40 people raiding molten core and such going from vanilla to Mist of Panderia now.. But thats me, maybe some other? dunno. Still awsome, can’t wait for it to be reliesed! :D
