Anarchy Online To Get A Whole New Look

Now that might not be aged for a redwood, but in the MMO genre that’s a veritable eon. So it isn’t that surprising that Funcom has decided on a facelift.

Unlike Joan Rivers‘ face, AO‘s overhaul looks to be making a big improvement.

In an interview with MMORPG.com, Game Director Fia Tjernberg spoke about the new teaser trailer, revealing that the new technology will be the same as used in Age of Conan’s graphical rendering — soon to be seen in The Secret World.

Along with the beautification, Anarchy Online will be getting an overhaul to its new player experience and two completely new areas to adventure in. With so few sci-fi MMOs — compared to the fantasy genre at least — it’s good to see a title that still has a strong community getting such attention from its developers.

This is amazing news. Anarchy Online is hands down -THE BEST- mmo in regards to game mechanics and fun factor. Anyone who tries this game for the first 50-60 levels will be hooked… and stay hooked for a long time. This is even with the dated graphics. This engine overhaul is going to breath new life into the greatest mmo ever, and I absolutely cannot wait.

Looks nice. Hoping the whole new player overhaul will help funnel newbies into more of the same sort of areas as AO has the “problem” of having too much content to support its dwindling population. Would love to see a reason to reinstall this game and jump in for a bit of TOTW fun.
