With the recent SOPA/PIPA fiasco, Americans’ — especially American gamers’ — faith in Congress is at an all-time low. But there’s one Representative who understands what kind of a threat the bills are to the online gaming community — because he’s a part of it.

As reported recently on Giantbomb, Jared Polis (D-Colorado) posted on the League of Legends forums last month in the wake of the SOPA/PIPA debacle, declaring his intention to fight the bills while also claiming to be part of the LoL community and  “partial to Anivia and Maokai.” One of three openly gay members of Congress, the 36-year-old Polis is a lifelong gamer, pronouncing his love for old games on his Intellivision and Apple ][ computer, as well as the Civilization series, Warcraft, and Neverwinter Nights. He’s also looking forward to the release of Diablo III. Hey, do you think he could find a way to reduce the national debt using D3‘s real-money transactions?
