Where is a time machine when you need one?

It’s been seven long years since the World of Warcraft movie was first announced. On again, off again, on again, director change. There’s been offers to actors for leading roles in the upcoming feature. And now we have an official release date for the movie everyone has been waiting for!

That’s right! Two years and 2 months from now, you’ll be able to gather with your friends and family to see the motion picture of a lifetime! This live action film is scheduled to start January 13, 2014.

We still don’t know which period in Azeroth history Blizzard Entertainment has decided on or if they will write a whole new story to be presented on the big screen. Attendees at Comic-Con were privy to a teaser of the movie, but no footage has surfaced for speculation.

I personally am hoping for a completely new story. Something to draw in a new audience. But it will have to have the means to stand on its own without a ton of back story to catch new viewers up with long term Warcraft fans. I do have one request, though… No Med’an, please, unless he has a chance of not being a Mary-Sue with great character development.

Will you be waiting at the box office premiere night? And if you are, what story do you hope will be shared in the movie?

“That’s less than a year to make a motion picture master piece!” Starts filming January 13, 2014, release date December 15, 2015. Might want to check your math.

    • flamingbugs

      11 months man.
      that’s less than a year

      • Michael Washington

I weep for your countries education system…

        • Trinica

          Country’s** Nice effort……not.

      • ifeelsocaughtupinabud

        That’s 23 months. Please read.

      • Wesley Trimble

so, are you stupid, or just really, really bad at noticing the obvious?

    • Pessimissed

They may not be good at math. Let’s just hope they are good at making movies! :)

  • Ixtyr

First, Missy and Q are busy with everything under the sun, so I wouldn’t be so harsh. Yes, it’s 23 months.

That said……..I’mma say PLEASE GIVE US ME’DAN, just so she gets angry. :D

    • lilmissy4205

Only if he get a horrible death at the end of the movie. :P

    • kymmico

That is not 23 months. Today is 10/3/2013. Two years (24 months) from now will be 10/3/2015. Two months later would be 12/3/2015. So Missy was right – 2 years and two months.

That said – I think it’d be neat to be able to watch Arthas’s story unfold. But I suppose I’m biased. That was the first warcraft novel I read.

Really bad timing, if they think they’ll be able to compete with the final part of the Hobbit (Released the same week), but, eh, whatever.

    • Luke Malcolm

From what I know The last Hobbit is 2014 not 2015.

      • Beristronk

        The Hobbit is TERRIBLE.

        • Ravenstorm

The book isn’t. BOOKS, the things that make Harry Potter not suck.

        • Dularr

It is a bad sign when the media publish articles on why the next movie will not be as bad.

    • Zo

Not sure it really matters. Unless it’s about who wins the box office for that week. Both movies may be competing for the same audience but, as part of that audience, I think that peeps like me will go to both. Either in the same week or a week or 2 apart.

    • Dularr

Nope, the release date for the third Hobbit movie, There and Back Again is July 18, 2014.

  • Luke Malcolm

Warcraft is more than just WoW, People do need to realize this.

This aint no WoW movie, I am happy it has taken this long as we know it is in the right hands.

  • Dularr

Have you wonder what kind of promotion Blizzard will put together for the Warcraft movie.

So far, only the movie Inferno (a Ron Howard film) and Kung Fu Panda 3 (very funny) are scheduled for December 2015.

    • Josh F.

I’m sure Blizzard will have a huge marketing campaign launching with the movie.

  • C4darkmane

i wonder if there will be a ingame event to promote it?? perhaps something with Caverns of Time

  • Deadnstien

Now the question is, will there be an X-pac released on that day (or the week before/after)?

    • Dularr

      I’m guessing special collectors edition.

  • John Michael Calcagni

    Nice, that’s my Birthday!

    • Ravenstorm

Happy B-day in advance! Cuz I’m gonne forget it for sure.

  • Ravenstorm

Hope it’ll be a new story in an old story, something like the story view from a common soldiers’ perspective looking and experiencing history whilst majorly important stuff goes on, something lilke that.
But if it’s Arthas’ story I’ll be okidoki with it. I’m all for heroic tragedy, poor Sylvanas.

  • Verus

If they can keep Metzen far away from this film and get a good story then perhaps this can be good. That said I have yet to see a really good movie based on a computer game.
