You may remember us talking about a storytelling tool-set called Storybricks a while back. The idea behind this project — still in production — is to allow players to create their own RPG or MMO universe that will be rich in story. It’s designed to allow players to use “bricks” to create engaging characters and story lines.
When we talked about it last, we took a peek a one of their developer diaries explaining how the tool-set works.
Now, Storybricks has announced a Kickstarter to allow them to raise the funds that will let them finish the project. While Storybricks does have backers, the team has reached the limits of that funding and are looking to raise $250,000 to perfect the tool-set.
In addition to announcing their Kickstarter, Storybricks has also announced new members joining their team, including Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, the creative team behind Dragon’s Lair, The Secret Of NIMH and An American Tail.
They’ve also brought on Richard Bartle the creator of the original text MUD as an adviser.
I was pretty excited about Storybricks before, but these recent additions to the team are a huge plus. I wasn’t sure about the art in the developer diary, but was willing to work with it anyway because the rest of the project seemed so cool. Now it looks like the art is going to be pretty sweet too.
