Most Kickstarter campaigns for games try to impress you with a few screen shots and maybe even a quick video. It isn’t often that a campaign actually gives you some hands on time. The Death Inc demo from Ambient Studios though does exactly that. Right now a very brief (and I mean BRIEF) Death Inc demo is available for any of you curious about the plague spreading title.
Keep in mind that Ambient has only been working on Death Inc now for about 10 weeks so yes, the demo is short, yes there may be bugs, and yes there may not be much of a challenge. The Death Inc demo DOES show you some core concepts and mechanics however and may entice you to shell out a few bucks for some support. Since, as of this writing, Ambient Studios is only 25% to their funding goal Death inc could certainly use your help if you are intrigued.
The Death Inc demo challenges you to take out a noble. This simple goal is accomplished by taking control of Death and using a “click and drag” paint brush technique to chart a course for your currently infected minions to follow. The path should lead towards new targets you’d like to take out or infect. Everyone isn’t exactly eager to contract the plague so you will have to get creative to sneak up on archers and build a strategy around other specialized defensive units. Different colored paint brush paths give different minion types their own special paths and Ambient Studios says the final version of the game will include puzzles, a campaign, and other additional perks.
