Leaked Shadowrun Returns Concept Art Uses In-Game Assets
Developer Harebrained Schemes recently let loose brand new concept art after a fan site leaked Shadowrun Returns images. Thanks to French fan site, Foundation Draco, the site was able to get a hold of the new images which were set to debut in an upcoming Game Informer magazine.
Do not let the colorful images deceive, as the game, which is based off the popular tabletop RPG series of the same name, has players using brute force and clever tactics to survive. Players in this universe will find themselves up against magical creatures like elves and orcs while setting the surroundings of the game to a cyberpunk style world filled with lies and technology.
Sadly the new concept pieces are not actual in-game screenshots but “concept pieces assembled in Photoshop using real in-game assets and character models in arranged poses.” While they may not be exact screenshots of the game, this should give fans of the series something to drool over while they wait.
To add to the images, Harebrained Schemes also released screenshots of the SRR Editor in action. The scenario editor is what will allow players, when the game launches, to build onto the game. The editor won’t just allow level creation but give the Shadowrun Returns community a healthy dose of depth to creating their ideal stories using the in game assets and mod tools.
Make sure to check out the full coverage of the game when Game Informers magazine releases sometime this February and let us know in the comments below your thoughts on the art style. Did Harebrained Schemes stay true to the series or were you expecting something with a little more grit?
