It’s that time again! Another weekend, another awesome indie game.
Titled A Nation of Wind, the game takes place in a world of floating islands on which the player builds colonies and defends them from strange creatures living in the sky — such as giant seahorses and floating alligators.
As the game progresses, the player gains the ability to control the gods and use their various abilities to do things like build more land or defend against enemies.
A Nation of Wind is a solo project from Jameson Wilkins — a freelance video game artist for 2D mobile and browser titles. While the game is technically still in beta, Wilkins stated on Reddit that this was only due to it needing a few bug fixes and minor bits of content added.
After having downloaded the game — the download is free — and dabbling with it, I do feel it’s important to note that this is one of those games where you might actually want to spend time on the tutorial. I did a portion of the tutorial and decided to just hop in and immediatly discovered I had no idea what I was doing.
Although, this may not be as big of an issue for those of you that play RTS games on a regular basis.
That one thing aside, I definitely suggest anyone who’s looking for something to play this weekend give A Nation of Wind a try. And of course, if you do…
Let me know what you think of it. And leave a comment for the developer on his Reddit post. It’s his first solo game so I’m sure any contructive comments are appreciated.
