Every week I pick out a game to highlight for the GAMEBREAKER community, but this week we’re doing something a little different. Rather than picking out one game I’ve found a group of demos that are available on Steam to look at.
The interesting thing about these demos is that they were entries in a contest called Level Up 2011. The contest is a joint project between Intel and Valve that allows developers to create and enter demos for a chance to win cash prizes and have their demo featured on Steam. Creators may also have the opportunity to sign a contract with Valve to create a full downloadable game to be sold through Steam.
Currently there are ten demos available in the Level Up 2011 spotlight and one — named Splice — has already turned into a full game that will cost you about $9.
