Every once in a while, I stumble across something that I think might be the best thing ever. Okay, so I’m fickle… but this really may be one of the best things ever.
I was poking around on Kickstarter this morning and ran across a project called Tex Murphy – Project Fedora. (See.. Fedora. Best hats ever. Already awesome.) This particular project, posted by Chris Jones and Aaron Conners, is asking for funding in order to create the sixth game.
Honestly, I don’t think this game would be made now if it were not for Kickstarter. The Tex Murphy games are old school live action adventure games. We already know that adventure games are not top on the list of things publishers what to see made.
Aside from that, the premise is pretty different from what most gamers would expect to see on the market now. The game is based around a noir-style private investigator — played by Chris Jones — living in a post-apocolyptic, 21st century San Francisco where despite being a normal human he’s the genetic reject.
They’ve still got a good way to go before they reach the funding they are asking for, a grand total of $450,000. But I hope they make it. I really want to see this happen.
Seriously, this game has everything and will probably be one of the strangest — and therefore best — things I ever play. I honestly feel like Tex Murphy may be a dream game based on the extreme ridiculousness of it. I mean.. Check out that acting!
