With the May 1st release of TERA looming on the horizon, En Masse Entertainment has been dropping information about what fans can expect to happen between now and then.

Now, they’ve release the official TERA launch schedule.  Those dedicated enough to pre-order will be getting pre-launch perks.

EME breaks the schedule down into three separate parts, Early Character Creation, Open Beta Test and Head Start.

Early character creation will start April 13 at 7:00 PM PST and end April 17 at 10:00 AM PST.  Players are allowed one character per account at that time.

Head start begins on April 28 at noon Pacific.  At that point players are allowed eight characters per server.  Players will also be allowed to continue with their open beta character’s progression to level 38.

The open beta pre-order event will begin April 19 at noon PST. and will end April 20th at noon PST.  The open event picks up immediately and will end on april 23rd at 11:59 PM PST.

In both events players are allowed one character per server and a max level of 32.  En Masse has also stated that there will be a new introduction to the game’s starting area the Island of Dawn.

Unfortunatelly it is a new intro. EU Tera announced that they have a new intro to the starting zone and will be released in their Open Beta. My guess is that it is the same for En Masse.

See, that’s what I thought when they first announced a new “prologue to give some more insight to the lore of the Island of Dawn,” but I’ve seen En Masse employees talking about a “New prologue ZONE” and how it’s a new “tutorial” and the word “tutorial doesn’t give the zone justice” in various threads.
(I was actually trying to find one of those posts just before this, but it seems that they’re just buried underneath the crushing amounts of QQ coming from the fact that players can’t have 9000+ characters in OB and that they’re upping drop rates to decrease dungeon grind…  I’m really upset because I was gonna read it off for +100 “ooo speculation” points! D’: )

god damnit I love you roda.

      NO ONE QUESTIONS THE RODA!

      “Improved Early Play
We’ve fine-tuned your first sessions in TERA to deliver maximum action and get your journey off to a rapid start.

Tired of games that start you in an out-of-the-way village where the chieftain wants you to collect coconuts in the jungle? TERA’s new playable prologue starts you right in the middle of the action: a beachhead under assault by demonic forces. It’s not just a cutscene—you’ll be fighting big-ass monsters within minutes, learning the controls as you go.

The thrills don’t stop when you leave the prologue behind. We’ve adjusted the storyline quests throughout the first 20 levels to challenge you as they reveal more of TERA’s deep lore. The boss monsters in particular got upgrades they can’t wait to test out…on you!

      Feature at a Glance Playable
Prologue: You become part of a beach landing gone awry. Can you save your allies and prevent a military disaster?
Badder Bosses: New tactics and deadlier attacks from early-level foes. You’ll earn those levels.
Quest Variety: Dozens of new quests that take TERA far beyond repetitive “hunt,” “gather,” and “deliver” tasks, and reveal the world’s rich history and cultures.”

So basically they are going to leave over half of the content untested? The highest beta test lvl cap has been 38… max lvl is 60 so I sense another SW:TOR delima occuring where end game is going to suck. Playing the game myself I don’t like the lvling experience, the combat is repetative, and there sin’t going to be any structured pvp at launch… Add on to this by most likely not having an enjoyable end game (no large raids at launch either??) that is completely untested. They leave me no choice but to skip it and save my money. I thought at the very least it would hold me over till GW2 but why waste my moeny on something that will not even be enjoyable. /Le sigh I am just so disappointed with recent MMOs I just hope GW2 doesn’t fail me now =(

Most games don’t have “testing events” that are held all the way to cap, instead they use in-house testers to test the higher level content.

The beta weekends are really just to tide the community over until launch, with the added benefit of a large sample size for their own testing.

      Large scale PvE:
Our version will have nexuses, which are pretty much lolrifts, open world large scale PvE events that give out rewards and tokens.

      Structured PvP:
I’m pretty disappointed about this too, really. :/  But I’m very anxious to see some of the new stuff they are coming up with! :o

Saying ‘most games’ don’t do it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. This is a game they are trying to regionalize and from what I have played so far have failed at it. If they failed in my eyes in the parts that were widely tested do you think I am going to enjoy end game that they haven’t shown to the masses? If you say I will enjoy the end game so much that I will be able to forget the horrible lvling experience then I will get this game.

        • Sharuko

This game has been out in Korea for over a year, there is no need for a lot of high level testing.  The “beta” was mostly a marketing build up and stress test with some minor regional tweaks.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518607879 Christopher Mitchell

Yeah cus here in NA we’re all Korean… wait maybe just you are then. Yeah they may have a successful end game in Korea but there are key differences in successful games between Korean games and NA games. If you don’t know the differences I won’t explain them to you since I’m tired of it and it isn’t worth my time anymore. If the game only needed “stress tested and minor regional ‘tweaks’” it wouldn’t have taken them 2 years to bring it here. But to be honest it doesn’t really seem they did do all that much in changes… which would explain why it sucks and if I think that from what I have played what am I supposed to think about the stuff I havent seen yet? That’s right I should think that despite the total lack luster parts I have played so far should lead me to believe there are candy canes and double rainbows at max lvl.

Sorry but your comment was just so ignorant I got a little upset. :D

          • Sharuko

It took them a year and 5 months to bring it here not because of changes.  If you played the Korean version you would know there is little to no change for most of the game.  (except for the obvious English vs. Korean text)

I personally played to 40ish in KTera and 36 in NA beta and didn’t find anything different.  There were minor tweaks during the first couple of betas the biggest change was PvP mechanics. No MMO has been “tested” more prior to NA/EU release than Tera.

If you think it sucks maybe this game is not for you.  Tera was build with a worldwide audience in mind just not the Korea audience.  And Bluehole Studios has stated this numerous times.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518607879 Christopher Mitchell

LOL then that definitely explains why it sucks. And do you believe everything a company that wants your money says? Just cus ‘Blueholes’ stated they made their game for the world doesn’t mean they actually did. And if the fact that they only released it in Korea and it took 1.5 YEARS to finally get it released in another country (not worldwide still) doesn’t concern you then LLLAAAAWWWWLLLL is all I have to say to you good sir ^.^ And I think you have this backwards. It isn’t that this game isn’t for me but that you just enjoy Korean games which is not the majority of Americans which is why they have to CHANGE things when a game comes here from there or it will fail. But you are right, I don’t enjoy Korean MMO grind fest system they love so much and this game hasn’t changed much from the Korean version so thank you for proving my point and this game is not for me… or any other person who hates grind fests.

          • Sharuko

You assume too much and most of the time make no sense.  I hate Korean MMOs, I hated Aion.  I like Tera a lot because even in KTera the game was very Western in terms of leveling and dungeons.

I am not taking Bluehole’s word for it, I am speaking from my experience playing the game.  You can get to max level in a couple of days with ample quests.

There is nothing “grindy” or “grindfest” about Tera.  I actually think there are too many quests.

The game was delayed in the West due to legal trouble, NCSoft had sued them and the trial lasted for months in Korea. The game was supposed to come out 6-8 months after Korean release originally.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518607879 Christopher Mitchell

Hating Aion doesn’t mean you hate Korean MMOs… for goodness sake you already admitted to playing Tera when it was only available IN KOREA! It is a Korean game and you played it before it even came to NA so don’t say you have an aversion to them lol. And I am speaking from my own play experiences as well. Leveling is a complete grindfest in comparison to most games currently out. To even say there are too many quests just lends more evidence to the possibility you like grinding mobs. You sound like the NA developers of the game by saying “All we need to do to regionalize the game is instead of having them just go out and kill 30 mobs we will have a quest that will tell them to go collect 30 items from those mobs and they will be happy.” Guess what, that is still a grindfest.

          • Sharuko

Seems like I need to explain things a little more slower for you.  I hate Korean MMOs because they are generally grindy from Lineage to Aion.

I only started playing KTera because I liked the 1st NA beta so much after it ended I wanted to play more, so I picked it up and played it.

You can’t seem to understand simple concepts.  I had too many quests even after I finished the zone and had to move to the “higher level zone” I have quests left.  I had to abandon them.

If you think Tera is a grindfest so is every other MMO in the market today and any MMO coming out in the near future.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518607879 Christopher Mitchell

But Tera’s are even worse herpderp, even in WoW I never had to kill 30 of one mob O.0 in Tera? common occurrence not to mention you just see the same mobs slightly recolored through most of the 1-30 experience. Enjoy your game but don’t try to deny what it is.

          • Sharuko

You never have to kill 30 of any mob in Tera, now you are just making things up.

Not everyone will get to test end game of every MMO.  Didn’t happen in WoW, or Rift or SWTOR and won’t hapen in TSW  or GW2.

Again if you think Tera is a “grindfest” you need to quit the MMO genre for good.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518607879 Christopher Mitchell

I counted and yes before lvl 20 I had to GRIND 30 OF ONE MOB! whether it was a bug or not that I wasnt getting my quests items fast enough doesnt concern me since it happened more than once.

          • Sharuko

            You’re lying.

          • ChristopherMitchell1

             You wish.

  • Sharuko

It is amazing how quickly MikeB thinks of exploits like for the name deleting thing.  Took him 2 seconds to come up with it and he does it all the time.   That is some weird talent.

  • Revanhavoc

How come it took you guys so long to get Roda up in here on a Break, she is great.

  • http://twitter.com/RodaSmash Hannah

Alright, so about the character name reservation and deletion of characters, it seems to have reverted back to the NA Beta style of character deletion (Type name and instant delete) instead of the Korean version (do whatever and wait 7 days).

    “-If you make a
mistake, want to change your reserved name, or wish to change servers,
simply log in, delete that character, and create another one.”
(As posted late (for me at least! o.o) last night.)

So you can delete and remake and delete and remake to your heart’s content!
    (Yay!)
