Rumors Fly That Greg Zeschuk May Leave Bioware

If you’ve heard rumors lately about one of the founders of BioWare, Greg Zeschuk, leaving the team, don’t put too much stock in them just yet.

Recently German games site GamersGlobal reported that Zeschuck might be done with the studio he helped build. For those of you who may have been unaware, a rumor about this has been circulating since the layoffs in May.

While Greg has stepped down from his position of General Manager he has not yet left the company, and according to a recent report from Gamasutra he has no intention to do so. According to an email from Zuschuk to the site, he had always planned for his time in Austin to be short-lived and had had not even moved his family there from Edmonton.

Both he and Ray Muzyka had picked Matthew Bromberg to take over the position and run the studio so that Greg could spend more time with his family and focus on a variety of BioWare games rather than just one.

So EA have essentially forced him back but denying it. And now they are looking to rename to EA Austin meaning no more BioWare name? EA has killed BioWare then and will kill off SWTOR.

Ok so he planned all along to step down and not stay involved with Swtor long term..uh huh. If Swtor had been an epic success story would have have stepped down? I doubt it

I have lost all faith in EA (non-sports games) … they pushed swtor out the door b4 it was ready… they fired many people who were great contributors to the game… But first and foremost… they hired people from the warhammer team to work on swtor……. idiots

I hate to see all these lay offs, but I seriously blame it all on EA and they’re horrible policies. Not even the hardcore EA fan boys I know are willing to invest in EA products anymore. You can only be burned so many times before people get angry. Especially, now that they’re trying to churn out battlefield games as if they were CoD or something.

Ya I see a lot of these rumors. People who just play MMOs don’t realize that most companies who do also make other games, and it is not like they have a crew for each game and that people move from project to project. I know in WoW you could tell in game design and such when a new crew was working on things.
