It’s not exactly the end of the world — that’s later this year, according to the Mayans — but for fans of Sony Online Entertainment‘s games, Monday might as well be the apocalypse.
SOE will be taking its games offline from 12:01 a.m. Monday, April 23 until about 11:59 p.m. the same night. Players will be unable to log in to any SOE games, access their accounts, or perform any kind of commercial transactions during this time.
There’s no official word as to the reason for this shutdown beyond “maintenance,” and the games should be back and ready to go on Tuesday, so it’s probably not strictly apocalyptic.
But gamers being denied their MMOs for 24 hours?
We expect plenty of rending of garments, crying in the streets, and petulant wails of “John Smedley, John Smedley, why have you forsaken me?”
