8 Teams Compete For $180k in WoW Arena Tournament At Blizzcon!
Blizzard announces its plans to host the World of Warcraft Arena Global Invitational at Blizzcon. $180,000 is on the line!
Hey, you!…Yeah, you! Like the sound of $180k? Don’t lie to yourself, of course you do. Well, besides the armed security guards at the bank, the only thing standing between you and that fat payload is 8 of the best 3v3 World of Warcraft Arena teams. No pressure.
Blizzcon is edging ever closer and with only 3 months to go until the event, speculation is mounting up about what the gaming giant will be putting on show for fans to drool over this year! Naturally, eSports is another area Blizzard is trying to push, and with the StarCraft 2 World Championship Series already taking place at the event, surely World of Warcraft PVP should make a showing? Surely?!
Well then, it should come as no surprise to learn that earlier today, Blizzard announced it’s plans to host the World of Warcraft Arena Global Invitational at Blizzcon 2013. With a whopping $180,000 on the line there’s plenty for the top 8 3v3 teams to duke it out ove. Admittedly, it’s not as impressive as the DotA 2 The International 3 prize pool…but it’s still a big wad of cash.
How is it all going to pan out? The two highest ranking teams from the US and EU will be provided an automatic all expenses paid invite to the tournament that will be hosted in Anaheim, California on November 8-9th. For our Asian buddies, things will be a little more intense. Korea and Taiwan will be hosting their own regionals, with the winning teams receiving invites after an arduous battle to the top. In a similar fashion, China will also host their own regional finals with the top 2 teams receiving invites. Got it? Awesome.
As already mentioned, Blizzcon will be held on November 8-9th in Anaheim, California. For those of us that didn’t manage to get a ticket (Like me, sad unhappy face ), Blizzard will be streaming the event online with more information expected SoonTM.
