38 Studios' Copernicus Images Revealed

If pictures are worth a thousand words, then 38 Studios just released 3,000 words about Copernicus.

Three “leaked” images surfaced late yesterday on the fan forum 38Watch, and were quickly reposted around the web, including in 38 Studios’ official forums — which calls into question how “leaky” they were.

Regardless of the source, they’re the first screenshots from the MMO, and they show off three of the game’s playable races: the human Almain, the dwarf-like Dverga, and the savage and brutish Jottun.

These likely aren’t the only playable races in Copernicus — one or both of the elven races, the Ljosalfar or Dokkalfar seem like strong bets for inclusion — but right now fans of 38 Studios are happy for anything resembling good news.

Between this reveal and last week’s flythrough trailer, we’ve seen a veritable flood of new information about Copernicus, about which very little was previously known. Do you think 38 Studios will keep up the pace with more reveals? And what do you think about these racial choices? Let us know!

This looks pretty crappy. Not a fan of the design on these.

Very WoWesq style. That is not a bad thing. That said…2013 might be too late for a game like this. I would almost say release asap, tell players you are playing Beta, charge $5 a month and release content every month. The thought that a game that looks a lot like WoW might be a problem for players…unless. But this looks like the basic fantasy mmo of Amalur

I see these images and think that the art and design of the game is well executed and very appealing to the eye. The fact that people think the “graphics” look crappy tells me that folks have a very odd way of using the word graphics lol.

I really enjoyed Reckoning. Also think the bits we’ve seen look great. The cityscapes were amazing.

I wanna know how they 1.2 million copies of Reckoning (72mil roughly) and 75mil loan plus other investor cash is not enough to make this game when WoW cost 100mil. Economy has changed but still, it’s not even near release yet! Where did all that money go?

Please get your shit together guys, I was really looking forward to this (minus the damn consolely controls in Reckoning).

You seem to have forgotten the cost to make Reckoning. Then there is the publisher’s cut.

The controls(on PC) were the reason I liked Reckoning! O_o
However I only played the demo, EA + Origin = not buying without a heavy discount.

this game looks awesome! cant wait for it to come out!

  • Kagitaar

Not a fan of the style, but that’s not a huge deal.

Jason, that ‘joke’ was so bad it hurt. Oh, and you could play the elves in KoA:R.

    OMG is that WOW 2.0

  • Tom Hayward

…And 38 Studios just died. Entire staff laid off. Why did they release this stuff?

  • scottsummer

wow..the art direction .. i can’t stand it it looks NOTHING like KoA, it reminds me of some sort of Disney cartoon than KoA Reckoning.

  • H S

Looks like a Shrek IV advertisement

  • DoctorOverlord

Why the heck would a company release a trailer then images of a game then follow with firing the entire company?   Were things there really that disorganized or was this a complete surprise to all the employees who were just following the set schedule of releasing game info?

Have to agree with you there, except it looks more like Dreamworks than Disney ;-) .

But some people would have liked it I’m sure.  Too bad about the news though.
