Sorry, folks, we know you were looking forward to being able to show that you were the best PvPers on the server in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this time around.
Ranked warzones were scheduled to launch today with Update 1.2: Legacy, but the players from on the public test server issued great suggestions and bug fixes. So BioWare designed to hold back on releasing this part of the update until later.
How much later?
Lead Game Designer Daniel Erickson explained in a blog post on SWTOR‘s website: “In the future we’ll be rolling the Ranked Warzone Preseason out in phases, listening carefully to player feedback and making adjustments as we go. The first phase will be full team, eight-player queuing only and from there we’ll look at next steps as Preseason progresses.”
Testing does do some good. Unfortunately, that also means things need to be held back sometimes. Here’s hoping that the roll out comes soon and not “soon™”.
I can’t wait to prove how much I pwn face — or not…
To top things off, the game will be offline for most of the day today because of some issue with the morning patch. Community Manager Stephen Reid posted this morning:
During last night’s maintenance, some areas of the game were reverted to pre-Game Update 1.2 status. Some areas were ‘missing’ and characters that were in those areas would be unavailable. We took the live servers offline at approx 9:30AM CDT (Austin time).
Our server and deployment teams are now working to rebuild assets for the live servers, but this is unfortunately not a quick process. We currently estimate that our downtime could be up to eight hours, but that time may be extended.
