Defiance Launch Date of April 2 Announced

MMOFPS launches globally on April 2

We already know that the SyFy network will air the first episode of Defiance on April 15. Today, we got news from Trion Worlds about the accompanying MMOFPS’s launch date as well: April 2.

In a press release issued today, Trion announced the Defiance launch date for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, stressing again the unique link between the video game and the TV program, calling it “a one-of-a-kind transmedia experience.”

“In terms of ambition and scope, Defiance’s transmedia features make it unlike any other entertainment experience,” said Nathan Richardsson, Trion’s VP of Development and Defiance Executive Producer. “After five years of development, it brings great pride to the Trion and Syfy teams seeing Defiance come to fruition.”

The news is accompanied by a new live-action trailer, titled “Join the Fight!”, which is a little bit Star Wars cantina scene, a little bit Mad Max, and a little bit Starship Troopers.

If you haven’t already tried out Defiance for yourself, you can sign up for the beta on the game’s site. Advanced Mission Beta 2 is scheduled for Feb. 8-10 — and if that name alone isn’t enough to get you to sign up, we’re not sure what else will do it.

Oh yeah, maybe the released pricing details announced earlier this week. So get out there and kill some bugs, recruit!

I am still torn on this one, from the little gameplay I got to see it kinda looked like an MMO borderlands

Ok normally we see these things before/after we’ve played and go “That trailer was good but….” In this case thats the game,without saying too much thats the closest i’ve seen to live action/gameplay syncing, I commend the combo of Trion/Syfy so far on this and expect big things to come of this.

Hmm, I’m under NDA so I can’t say much, what I can say though is that I sincerely hope they ramp up the development and polish the game until April, because as it is now it feels lacking (especially in the animation department and basic shooter fluidity).

Wish them all the best though, the series looks amazing.

i just hope they fix the bugs, there were very big ones that for sure are with the game and not my computers without saying to much i basically had to reinstall and patch the game 2-3 times because it would keep messing up on install, than when i got into the game (though it was amazing and i was having so much fun) the big bugs ruined it completely. NDA always pisses me off just because there’s no forum so i can c if everyone else is getting them.. for example after every cutscene i’d come back and would have no interface at all. can still kill and oot things and talk, but can’t open any screens/inventory/have no means of aiming, forcing me to restart the game about every 20min
