Latest Defiance trailer shows off just how much you can customize your weapon loadout
So folks, have you checked what day it is in your diary? March 8th…what does that mean? Oh that’s right; we’re just a little under a month away from the release of Trion Worlds latest highly anticipated MMORPG endeavour. From the studio that brought us Rift and End of Nations comes the MMO-esque multi platform shooter Defiance. but of course, you knew that already, right?
Well with such little time left between now and the games release on April 2nd, the marketing monsters over at Trion aren’t letting up, determined to fill our already bulging brains with more knowledge. Despite it being a Friday, there doesn’t seem to be any exceptions being made as the latest Defiance Trailer shows off another feature of the game; Weapon customization.
Bling your Boomsticks!
Yet another of the feature from this highly ambitious TV/Video game combo title and it actually looks like it’s going to work! From the latest trailer we really get a sense of detail on how the customisation system is integrated. Effectively you have hundreds of options per weapon to make it somewhat your own. In the trailer we’re given examples of some of the basic changes that you’re use to like weapon scopes, barrels and in some cases melee attachments.
Then we seem to get into the true grit and somewhat bizarre customization options such as ammo load outs – some examples in the trailer given are what appears to be a mutagen plugin that basically makes things grow giant tumours that turn into mini…head crabs?!?!. Another example thrown out is a grenade launcher that fires little tar bombs that hold your opponents in place…it’s all a bit whacky to say the least, but…awesome!
Currently, we’re not exactly sure where these customizations will be coming from, whether dropped a-la typical MMO style, bought or scavenged…time will tell…but in the words of Will Smith “I GODDA GET ME ONE OF THESE”.
Trion had this to say about the content of the trailer;
“Customization reaches an all new high in the upcoming futuristic online open world shooter, Defiance. Careful planning and preparation will make the world of difference when it comes to utilizing your futuristic weaponry to its fullest potential. There are thousands of options when it comes to attachments and modifications to create your ultimate weapon. From bug-spawning ammunition, to lightning firepower and so much more, the sky is the limit.”
