It’s been just over a week since the February update and we’re already getting some details from ArenaNet about the next Guild Wars 2 patch. We’ve known that the March content update will focus on updates to world vs. world and advance the living story arc that has been slowly rolling out since January. ArenaNet has put up a preview page teasing some bits of the story that will unfold for us this month:
“A hybrid army erupts through fiery portals in the Shiverpeaks. A Molten Alliance between the dredge and the charr Flame Legion has created a force powerful enough to massacre any who stand in their way. One settlement, one homestead at a time, they’re wiping out all resistance. The razing has begun.
In Flame and Frost: The Razing you’ll meet the norn Braham and Rox the charr, two Tyrians who fervently believe in doing what’s right, no matter the risk. Join Braham and Rox in a desperate battle to defend their homelands from annihilation in the third installment in this four-part series!”
It sounds like the cooperation between the Flame Legion and dredge now has an official name to focus our anger on: The Molten Alliance. Braham and Rox also sound like interesting allies that we’ll get to interact with. I’m not expecting new cut scenes with voice-overs in this update given at how expensive and time-consuming that would be to produce. Instead, it would be cool (and a throwback to the original Guild Wars) if these new NPC allies shared their background and stories through interactive dialogue trees. Hopefully, Braham and Rox are received better than poor old Trahearne.
The March content update, Flame & Frost: The Razing, is scheduled to go live on March 26. What do you think of the information we have so far? Are you ready for the razing?
