Looking for more info about Neverwinter?
MMORPG.com’s got an interview with Lead Producer Andy Velasquez that reveals a goodly number of details about Cryptic Studios‘ Dungeons & Dragons-inspired MMO.
For those not in the know, Neverwinter is based on the 4th Edition Rules Set for D&D, which includes a number of MMO-like features. There will be tweaks to the system, including some outright deletions and additions, to better mold the game into a true MMO experience.
Characters will be able to progress to the equivalent of level 20 in D&D, represented by 60 levels in Neverwinter. The game will use action combat, instead of tab-targeting, which Velasquez describes as a “whole lot of fun.”
Cryptic plans to craft its dungeon experience around “Dungeon Delves,” described as “raid-type content” for five people. And the Foundry tools for user-created dungeons will be in full effect, though there will be enough content in the game for players to reach level 60 on their own.
Finally, beta for the game is just around the corner — though Velasquez says that “depends on how long your corners are.”
