DUST 514 Accepting Closed Beta Applications

Dust off your PlayStation 3 controllers — it’s nearly time for you to get your hands on DUST 514.

CCP Games is now accepting closed beta applications for its PS3 shooter title set in the EVE Online universe. EVE players and Fanfest attendees will get first crack at the beta — some as early as tomorrow — with the beta expanding as the summer goes on.

A “special event” is also planned for players who get in this weekend. If you’re playing, we’d suggest keeping an eye toward the sky — you never know when an “orbital surprise” could be headed your way.

DUST 514 is set to release later this year exclusively on PlayStation 3. A direct link to the beta application can be found here.

  Yeah, seems like a shame its just PS3 at this stage. It’s not like a major of console players are the ones looking forward to a more MMOFPS feel, they probably still enjoy their CoD heavily still. I mean considering heavily that Eve is an MMO title on PC.

    From what I’ve heard lately, I’m not really too sure whether Dust has an MMO “feel”. Sure, communication between Dust and Eve players is supported – encouraged in fact – and there is somewhat of a Dust-centric marketplace, though I don’t see what are instanced battlegrounds really giving that much of an MMO “feel”.
    
    The only MMOFPS offering a true MMO “feel” in my opinion is Planetside 2; simply because of the persistent open world. We’ll see though, I’m a fanboi of Eve.

      I have never been too much into Eve, but I have only seen it and looked far to passive in appearances. Disregarding that though, I have been told that it was an MMOFPS and also heard that there would be massive possibly persistent battles over regions, I was never truly convinced it was either so I just said “MMO feel”.
      
      Speaking of Planetside 2, that just seems great and I can’t wait.
