Things at the CCP camp have been pretty hectic over the past few weeks. With the release of the latest expansion for the company’s hit MMORPG, Eve Online and their most ambitious game, Dust 514, hitting open beta on the PS3 earlier this month, you’d probably think the staff would have their hands full, right?
Well it seems that theory has gone out of the window, as they’re apparently in the process of planning to party. Hard.
Earlier today CCP released the trailer for their upcoming annual Eve Fanfest that takes place in the gloriously sunny peaks of Reykjavik, Iceland. What makes this year more of a reason to party is that it turns out that this year marks EVE onlines 10th anniversary.
With the dates announced last year, the EVE fanfest is set to hit the Icelandic capital on April 25th-27th, promising:
- The latest on Dust 514
- Events – such as the famous EVE pub crawls
- Presentations from the developers including all the latest and future news on EVE and the companies other IP’s
- A chance to hang with the community
- Live music
- The EVE symphony performed by the Icelandic Philharmonic Orchestra
CCP were also the creative force behind the MMORPG adaption of the World of Darkness IP. Though that was announced in 2006, it was later announced in 2011 that the staffing would be drastically cut down. It should be interesting to see how much of a presence the WoD team has at the event, or if the project is essentially dead in the water.
So, if you’re an EVE fan and you think you can hold a cease fire for a whole 3 days, instead of causing even more damage to the galactic trade network, why not consider grabbing yourself a ticket and joining your fellow players!
