After 10 years of continued Growth CCP has announced that EVE online has passed the 500K subscriber mark.
Developer and publisher CCP Games is pretty excited right now as their flagship game EVE Online has passed the 500k subscriber mark. The game, which recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary and released it’s 18th free expansion has always seen steady growth. However, this is the first time they’ve been over the 500k mark.
It is important to note that since this number is world wide, it does include those playing on the separate Chinese server as well as the single western server we are all familiar with. That said, it’s still very impressive that any MMO has continued to grow throughout a ten year lifespan rather than see subscription drops.
CCP’s CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson had this to say about EVE Online passing the 500K subscriber mark:
CCP has decided to celebrate EVE Online’s 10 year anniversary throughout the year with a “Second Decade” theme. The celebration will begin in April during the EVE Online Fanfest in Reykjavik, Iceland and will continue with the official birthday celebration on May 6th.
