Star Wars The Old Republic Tests Higher Population Servers
9 Comments

Bioware has been hard at work testing out new high population servers for Star Wars the Old Republic,  and they’re still looking for more players to further test the new tech.

Players will find that if they have a normal character on an East Coast server then their character has already been copied to the “High Population Server Test” for this massive test. Not to worry if you do not play on an East Coast server, though, as you can copy your character for this test as well.

The only requirement to participating is that you have the game downloaded, a character copied, and an active account to test to your heart’s content.

One thing to note is that if you try to file an in-game ticket, you will receive an error message and the ticket will not be received, as this server is only design to test the population size.

If this has peeked your curiosity or desire to strengthen your favorite light-saber MMO then head over and start testing!

Leave a comment below letting us know how well you fared both in latency and frames!

waiting for the “How can they test high population servers if there’s no population” comments.

With the servers going through their final merge, I will be curious to know how many are on each server and the current total pop.

They have 8 in both US & EU than 3 in Asia. They vary between Medium & High while 3 in US sometimes can hit Full, 2 in EU & 1 in Asia. Low pop I have only seen during the middle of the night to some of the morning: 2 am EST – 10 pm EST.

This was shocking to me as there are more people playing than I actually thought were, I guess its cause its Star Wars.

is that the online, or assigned population?

      Well? How can they?

Well yeah thats the obvious joke, but even as a person who really likes this game I cant really see the point in the exercise myself, unless they intend to compress all the way down to one pvp, one pve and one rp server per region, which at this point they could probably handle with their existing architecture.

To me that “high tech population” gimmicky phrase feels like it has an unthruthful PR aftertaste. Might be wrong, but come on… tell us the specs and be candid with your customers. Ffs.

The whole aura of cover-up they emanated from the start was a big f. letdown for me personally.

It’s “piqued your curiosity,” not “peeked.”
