SWTOR tried the whole system auto assigns loot thing and it didn't go over very well. You ran into the situation where the system assigned loot to people who didn't need it while leaving the undergeared players with no gear advancement.

The Charm of Good Fortune is a terrible work around. Raiders are going to feel like they need these charms to gear up; thus bringing back the annoying grind we had in Vanilla and BC (only difference then was that it was for consumables and not for some "bonus" roll for an item).

If Blizzard is going to steal ideas, why can't they steal good ones?

The whole uncommon / rare / epic system lost its meaning a long time ago. Level 68 green items from Northrend have better stats than level 70 epic items from Outland. And in Cataclysm there are (or at least were, at launch) a couple of green items with better stats than blue items of the same ilevel.

The item "quality" is no indication of stat budget or even of rarity; these days it seems to refer mainly to where a certain item drops (purple drops from raids, "high tier" emblems and heroic dungeon bosses, blue drops from dungeons, "low tier" emblems and quest chains, green drops from intermediate quests and regular mobs).

Anyway, making the same raid available in 3 difficulties doesn't make the harder one feel "epic". You're basically fighting the same enemy 3 times, just with slightly more HP and a couple of new spells at each "tier". What they really should have is different raids with different difficulty levels, like they did in vanilla and TBC (ex., AQ Ruins and AQ Temple). Simply recycling the same raid and tweaking damage to make 3 "tiers" is cheap and will never feel epic.

I don't agree with you on that at all.
First off its the same fight just a little harder and if you think about it LFR is harder. Its easy to do a fight with 10/25 people that are all working together, talking on vent, have good gear and know what they are doing. Its way harder to do the fight when some people are afk, some have junk gear, and some don't know what they are doing at all. Second if you take the epics away from LFR you have to take them away from dungeons too. Then what do the dungeoners gear blues but LFR is harder then a dungeon. So they have to get greens right? Then what do you get from questing? Questing is easier then dungeons so what do they get? . . . There is nothing left but white and gray. Lastly saying that there not good enough to have epics is just an elites statement. I run LFR because my guild is not a raiding guild and I don't have the time to pug. That doesn't mean you are in some way better then me at the game and for all you know the person in Stormwind wearing heroic gear could have been carried through the whole raid or got the toon of Ebay. So you don't know how good someone is just from looking at there gear. Good gear does not mean good player. It just means good gear.

I understand what you're saying but then when the next tier hits what? have blues with higher ilvl then the old tier purples? that doesn't sound good.

And why are purples so important? Its just a color, you already have the higher ilvl, personally I don't see a problem and don't really care. to me purple is just a color.
I suppose that's your problem, purple doesn't mean anything anymore.

But I think the important thing is the feel. Feeling epic doesn't come from the color of your gear I would say. So in that I disagree with you. As for getting blues or purples? I dont really care either way.

The LFR system should drop 'blue' pieces, NOT epic pieces. The bonus role on normal mode raids should also give improved blue pieces, not epic - the only place that the bonus role should be giving an epic piece is in heroic modes. Epic loot should come from epic encounters ....... purples should feel like that ....... bring that aspect back it will make progression for epic gear FEEL epic.
