If you spent some time in The Secret World during the one month celebration weekend, but haven’t committed to playing the game, Funcom would like to offer you another reason to take the plunge.

Should you decide to purchase the game after last weeks free trial, Funcom will deposit up to 1200 bonus points — to be used in the TSW cash shop — into your account. But, you have to make that decision by Sunday.

The other catch is that you will need to use the points before September 30th. But don’t worry… Once you have the points, I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding things to spend them on.

Funcom Offers Bonus Points To TSW Celebration Weekend Players

It would be interesting if you tried to get some info on why the game is considered a flop by analysts, resulting in a stock collapse and people being fired.

I suspect the unusual theme, coupled with bad animation and no original art style (bland and “realistic” – it simply doesn’t stand out in the crowd in this regard) resulted in a lack of broad appeal. The game has its qualities and is unique enough to make it stand out, it has just not been shown off in a good way to potential customers.

Does this also apply to players who had already bought the game? Or are they “pulling a Blizzard” and giving better rewards to non-subscribers than they are to people who have been paying their subscription…?

    • Kimern

Everyone who completed 30 missions during the weekend got those bonus points.

      • Old Ben

No, that is a separate bonus. These 1200 points are just a reward for people who buy the game and subscribe now. Those that are already paying a subscription won’t get them. The 30-mission bonus is separate, and both kinds of players can get it.

        • Kimern

No, only players who was in the celebration weekend and then buy the game gets the bonus points described in the article (that’s how I read it anyway).

I was wondering this too. I can see it as an incentive, but it would be KIND of a dick move to not award those who got it when it came out and pays for the first month already.

I  played the free weekend and it seems like a fairly solid game (minus the character models and lack of character creator options) but the biggest thing keeping me from the game is the monthly sub fee. I think it would do great as a B2P game, but a sub fee and a cash shop in game seems like a bit much to me.
