Carbine Studios Introduces The Galactic Archives On WildStar Wednesday
1 Comment

Wednesday has come and gone, and with it Carbine issued another WildStar Wednesday.  This time Senior Narrative Designer Cory Herndon discuses one of the methods the team is using to deliver lore to players — the Galactic Archives.

Much like the codices other games with lots of story — and things we’d probably never remember on our own — WildStar’s Galactic Archives stores information about places, people, things and items.  And, as with other games, this information is entered into the Archives once a player discovers them.

One unique feature of the Archives is related to which path characters choose. Scientists will actually have access to information no one else has, including some of the bigger secrets of the game.  Of course, they won’t just be handed this information.  They will have to accomplish their path missions first.  I’m assuming that’s because scientists are so smart.  Or… Maybe it’s the better tech…

Yeah. Let’s go with that.

Galactic Archives sounds so boring.   I hope they pick another name that fits more with the whimsical setting they’re establishing, like the Omni-HoloLibrary and DataDump or something.

Also while it might look good on paper to have secrets that only certain classes can access this is the age of the Internet.  Non-scientist classes will likely have access those secrets soon after the scientists do.
