Man, I gotta clean my screen real quick… this game just looks too awesome. Character creation looks beautiful. Finally a leveling experience that’s different from everything else. Dungeons with a little bit of puzzle action (YES!) And finally… RvR, or WvW I should say that’s finally, FINALLY done the way it should of been done. I nearly nutted when I saw the WvW map. No endgame? PvP is your end game. And with all traits, runes, weapon skills sets, and utility skills, there’s going to be a TON of various specs.

Awesome BFF Report Mike! Been watching since the Aion reviews and your “will it fit?” jokes – good stuff man. Grats on the 100th episode! Absolutely love your content man, kudos!

  • Nick Ratcliffe

This looks freaking amazing.  Also, screw all those Guild Wars Elitists who were trying to act like this game is going to be completely different (Rubi, for example, regarding the questing system and the disappearance of the trinity).

It’s different enough where it’s extremely fresh, while maintaining a lot of elements of traditional MMO’s which we all know and love.  (1) New combat system with fresh animations; (2) Still maintaining at least a semblance of the holy trinity, and (3) A good mix of standard dungeons with puzzles and unique mechanics.

you mad brah? you do realize upon release 90% of the “questing” will be dynamic events. So before you go insulting random people especially one of the most liked members of the GW2 community learn your facts

      • http://twitter.com/c3o5nnect J

Nick vs Nick: Fate of 2 Nicks…. I agree though, Rubi is a fine lady who was just going off the information she was given. No need to call her out, especially not a game that isn’t even out yet.

TBH I still think the “trinity” is still only a specific option or strategy in GW2. Sharing damage, Kiting, and Crowd Control are also other viable options… Open your mind to new possibilities.

You know if you think about it, the original Guild Wars games weren’t true MMOs. Yeah, you played with other people, but when you went into the actual real gameplay it’s instanced and you’re either by yourself or with a party. Only in the cities and PvP do you interact with other players.

    • Rekursiv

Not sure what is meant by elistists. There are no tanks and there are no healers; isn’t that enough to say that the holy trinity is missing?

  • H S

    OMG

  • Milamber_nova

They will have micro-transactions but nothing that will boost you so you get ahead of others, It will just be cosmetic stuff. Been following GW2 since they announced it and i still haven’t seen anything that i don’t like.

Let the NDA’s Drop  Wub Wub.
And so the day of awesomeness begins, glad I started with MikeB

  • Dwayne Gardner

I’ve got to say, this has been the best video coverage of GW2 I’ve seen so far!

  • James1989stephens

How dare you try and compare WvW with WoW.

  • Dracosblood

Mike was wondering what you would think of this game.  Glad to see that it was a very good exp for you.  Makes me think that this game may live up to the Hype, now if we can get Lore to try it. LOL :P

  • Doublecup

Just take my damn money already ArenaNet.

I am off to see about pre-orders.

    Thanks for the info MikeB.

  • Butcher 8

Awesome GW2 vid dude, very informative and also I lol’ed a few times which is a bonus!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/cpjontek?feature=mhee Sk33tsk33t

I just jizzed in my pants.

  • Time_warp

Great job Mike. Glad to see you enjoyed the game (lucky sob). I never bought into the “no trinity” and “no quests” mantra spouted by some of the GW fanbase. It was obvious from the start that would not be the case. ArenaNet does elevate those two elements, making a better “questing” experience for example — or “organic” as you put it. They were very thoughtful in their design choices, and that become more apparent when the rest of us get our hands on the game. Cannot wait!

  • http://twitter.com/dryiggles Jeremiah Yip

Great job MikeB.  I can’t wait for this game.  Also hate you for playing a mesmer now I can’t decide between an elementalist and mesmer :P

I am also quite amazed at the size of the WvW map.  And with 3 “Servers” facing each other I’m sure it will be way more active.

Can’t wait to see you do some more footage on the pvp. :)

Great video. It’s encouraging to hear about the instant cast spells not having a delay due to animations taking preference.

Edit: I have to be honest though, the sheer size of the map in the WvW is a bit worrisome.

This is the best video out there, right now, of GW2′s press beta weekend. Congratulations Mike.

    Mike B,

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for your GW2 coverage.  I know going into this you were never the “Guild Wars guy” and you have really made some awesome videos.  The city walkthroughs are especially appreciated.  You seem to have an eye for knowing exactly what people want to see and your commentary gives a great sense of how you felt going through the game.  I love the attention to detail that you obviously appreciate.  Guess you’ve been doing this a while :p

All that being said, I f**cking hate you for being able to play this game.  This little punk a** west coast gamer that’s been following this game for all of 10 minutes while I’ve been obsessing over every scrap since I first saw the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto video like 2 years ago.
And I’m a noob compared to the loyal GW1 fan base that have waited much longer!

All kidding aside, awesome job Sir.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=725842390 Bernard Ramkissoon

Thanks you Mike B for this awesome video, the best I have seen since the press NDA lift.I can’t wait to play that game with my guild and get in the WvWvW :p

  • Revanhavoc

Man I am actually excited for GW2 now especially after seeing those hotties the character creator can make, holy detailed, one of them looked like Miranda Kerr.

  • Keigh

I was very unsure about this game, but with MikeB’s report and all the others popping up it definitely changed my mind on this game and cant wait for a chance to play.

  • http://twitter.com/paulghillier Paul Hillier

I’ve been watching several videos on youtube of GW2, from the BFF report to the character creation to the tour of the cities.  I must say I didn’t really plan on getting the game because I don’t need it but I’m getting really hyped for this.  I’m already subbed to WoW (Damn you Yearly Sub) and SWTOR even though I don’t play enough of either to justify it.

I always been pretty okay with paying a montly sub, no biggie, I’m using the servers, they are giving us content but it’s starting to slowly get to me that I can buy a game and if I don’t love it or just don’t have time for it, I can’t play it at any free time I have unless I pluck down fifteen dollars for that month.

I never played an MMO before WoW.  WoW was my first MMO which I began playing just before Wrath in late 2008.  I heard of them before but I wasn’t going to buy a game that I had to pay for each month.  Then I bought some dollar or two disc that had a trial of WoW for a couple weeks.  I enjoyed it and my friend got it so we started playing it.  I haven’t played for a nice while now but I’m looking forward to Mist.

I tried Rift and I enjoyed it but after six months I wasn’t playing it enough to keep paying for the sub.  I would love to just login the game now and play it for a couple hours but I’m not going to pay the ten dollars or so to do so while I have WoW and SWTOR on my computer.

I have to pay for WoW each month but the reason I’m also subbing to SWTOR is because it is different then WoW.  I am enjoying the voice acting, questing and my personal storyline along with the fact it’s more Sci-Fi.

So I’m very excited for the fact we are going to get GW2, it looks like it’s going to be a very good MMO that will have no monthly sub and you won’t have to spend money even at the max levels to compete.  I’m looking forward to buying the game and not feeling like I’m wasting money if I don’t play for a few weeks.  I’m also very much looking forward to the World vs World PVP.  I’m not a big PVPer but that truly looks like it could be EPIC.

Now I just need to find a way to afford to buy GW2, Mass Effect 3 and of course Mist.  Thank you MikeB for all of your videos.

  • Mark

While I love the new look of the site I am used to having a page with just the latest shows listed on it and not having to check every show I watch to see if there is a new one.

Is it possible to put a shows page up maybe linked to the shows drop down which shows the latest shows in order, not the new videos just the shows.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Brandon777 Brandon Martinez

Just gonna throw this out there because I’ve been hearing it alot lately.  Getting locked into your animation is a feature for “action” games.  Its how you get punished for pressing the wrong button.

Don’t know how many people actually play any action console games, but in God of War, Batman Arkham City, Drakes, you push the attack button and your aiming the wrong way, guess what you finish your attack before you can do your next move, even if that means you swing at open air and you get pwned by the monster your fighting.

Just wanted to point that out for people who play alot of MMOs and not so much action console games.

    • http://twitter.com/c3o5nnect J

You can cancel with a dodge though… Also something found in many action games. Just pointing that out…

    • http://twitter.com/Raktiv_ Erlot

dudedude you are talking here with mmo guys, cmon dont be ridiculous.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jonathan-Reyna/1830988318 Jonathan Reyna

Nice coverage mike, really nice stuff here. Cant wait to get into GW2.

  • http://twitter.com/WadeDMcGinnis Wade D McGinnis

A Volunteer option showed up at that last bit of PvP, interesting choice to balance out the PvP.

  • http://twitter.com/WaylandX JB

Great work Mike! Congratz on 100!

  • Sibercat

    Make love to GW2

  • Wendel

Great video, best I’ve seen thanks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=715170625 Leith Black

bla bla bla. free to play. equals no new content.

    • Wolfy

Eeeehmm They gonna release new content and new events and such quite often even if it’s free but some content are free and some are not I guess but there will be new content

    • http://twitter.com/grizzlyGummy Glajummy

Funny, Blizzard practically prints money but most of Cataclysm’s content patches have felt half-assed. GW1 had no sub fee and its STILL releasing content, despite its sequel releasing in mere months.

    • http://twitter.com/LordMagtheridon Jānis Taurens

devs said they would start adding new content starting from day1 of release and do it regularly. So that pretty much makes a hole in your ignorance balloon.

    • bahl isvet

one of the shortest trolls i have seen today…

Ever since I started watching Guildcast and hearing about GW2, my excitement for it skyrocketed. Mike B., you just sealed the deal man. Now…. I want this game more than anything. I played GW long before WoW, and wasn’t going to play WoW because of GW2. Well obviously I got sucked into WoW, but that’s beside the point. All I’m sayin is..

    I F*#@ing WANT THIS GAME!

Oh, and grats on Episode 100. I started watching back I think around episodes 9 10 and 11 with the ICC 5 mans.

  • http://twitter.com/Feydakyn Feyd Darkholme

GW2 needs to get on my computer right now…

  • Severic

dang you ArenaNet stop teasing the rest of us. i want to play this so freaking badly. awesome job MikeB

  • AkiraShima28

The characters running looks HORRIBLE. And the ground textures look kinda crappy
