Blizzard’s Lead Systems Designer Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, who deals, among other things with class change mechanics and balancing, is pretty well known to WoW fans and others, but the same could not necessarily be said for his storytelling colleague, Lead Quest Designer Dave “Fargo” Kosak. Fargo started out writing comics, and was later snapped up by Blizzard, to design quests, storyline, lore progression, and that sort of thing.
As the whole Blizzard team is in Vegas this weekend, Ghostcrawler tweeted that he would be going offline for a while, which was followed by Fargo tweeting the following:
Yeah I’ll be taking over class tweets now! RT @ghostcrawler: GC fairly unplugged for a few days. Expect few updates.

Fargo took this about as seriously as we’d expect, and it wasn’t long before he was weighing in with several class change “announcements”:
Rogues? Nerf. Mages? Nerf nerf. Shaman? BUFF. 4th Shaman spec uses HATS instead of totems. Done.

Mages will now be called “Whizzers” and can only cast spells by screaming “Firebolt! Firebolt!” into their headset.

Paladins and priests are no longer allowed to raid on the sabbath. Exception: Shadow priests with guitars.

It wasn’t long, of course, before Ghostcrawler retaliated, with ideas of his own about Fargo’s area of expertise: questlines and story.
Night elves will henceforth no longer be sissies. #takingoverfromfargo
— Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) January 27, 2013
Tauren realize their goals have always been more in line with the Alliance. Swap imminent. #takingoverfromfargo
— Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) January 27, 2013
Anduin duels Garrosh. Loses. BIG SURPRISE. #takingoverfromfargo
— Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) January 27, 2013
New warchief? Undead Gamon. #takingoverfromfargo
— Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) January 27, 2013
Fargo carried on with a few more choice class change ideas, including some interesting changes to rogues and death knights:
Death Knights now take damage from healing. To balance, DPS classes can damage them to restore health. #TakingOverForGhostcrawler
— Dave Kosak (@DaveKosak) January 27, 2013
Enhancement Shaman tank spec: Dual-wield shields. #TakingOverForGhostcrawler
— Dave Kosak (@DaveKosak) January 27, 2013
And my personal favorite
New rogue tier set includes squeaky clown shoes that negate stealth. #TakingOverForGhostcrawler

What’s your take on these? It’s nice, in my opinion, to see these senior Blizzard developers having a bit of a laugh, but man I’d love a Shaman tank spec that dual wielded shields! And DKs being damaged by healing and healed by damage seems somehow appropriate, given their strange ways. Although, it would make them pretty hard to kill in PvP, unless you had a healer on your team. A paladin could take them out pretty easily in a battleground with a well-timed Lay on Hands!
