In most MMORPGs, acquiring loot is a key motivation for the players, and it’s no different in when it comes to Guild Wars 2 armor. We want our avatars to look as bad-ass as possible, so we’re willing to go on massive quests, farm endless materials, and trounce the most malignant forces in search of shiny baubles. In Guild Wars 2, obtaining gear is mostly a cosmetic affair. Once you snag the best stats with level 80 exotic armor, the hunt begins for armor sets that will make you stand out and turn heads.

Some armor sets are easy to find while others are more obscure. If you’re searching for the perfect Guild Wars 2 armor to strut your stuff in, then you’ve come to the right place. In this first in a series of Gamebreaker guides, we’ll be covering the dungeon armor sets.

Guild Wars 2 launched with eight dungeons each with a story mode and three explorable mode paths. Running the dungeons on explorable mode rewards players with dungeon tokens, which can be used to purchase special armor sets. Each set of dungeon armor has a rare and exotic version and is available in all three armor types: light, medium, and heavy. The vendors that peddle these goods are found in the Fort Marriner section of Lion’s Arch.

Completing each explorable path awards 60 dungeon tokens the first time they are run each day. The amount of tokens awarded diminish with subsequent runs of the same dungeon wing, so if you’re not in a rush, wait for the daily reset before repeating the same path. Dungeon tokens can also be found in Bags of Wondrous Goods, which are awarded after boss encounters. The prices, stats, and images for the various dungeon armor sets can be found below, but keep in mind that dyeing the pieces different colors will drastically change the way they appear.

I wish heavy and medium female armor had at least one set each that had shoe/short boots that were shaped more like light Arcon shoes. Almost all the footwear in the game looks like it was made for Hobbits.

Tbh im not that fussed on any of the Dungeon armor skins

The Rare Armour sets from Gw2 seem very lacking in some ways compared to some of the Armour styles in Gw1

Personally i would like to see some older Gw1 skins return in Gw2
there have been a couple of weapon and armor skins come back which im happy about
but it would be nice to see a few more come back in the future

The female medium armor which wasn’t shown is all a similar type of trench coat with minor changes. Barely any changes unlike on the Male medium side as shown. I had to use the Heritage Coat to prevent the trench coat look on my female Ranger.

I really don’t like most of the armor in GW2. I think they did a lousy job on most. There are a few great looking sets overall. IMO the Asura Med. Armor is terrible for thieves Everything is made to look like an engineer for the most part. Even the Legendary Weapons except for the great sword and Hammer are lack luster. I thought the Med armors in GW1 were bad as well. Even much of the obsidian (Elilte) armor wasn’t that great for most classes including the warrior. It really doesn’t matter to me, I still love the game, but the armor and weapon skins are definitely not the best part of the game, not even close, but this is just my opinion. Maybe I’m comparing it to other games in my mind like Aion, or Rift where I think they did a much better job with the look of the armor and weapons.

I would like to see some PvE guide for warriors, I still can’t get it, I die so much. In game like Tera I have no problem dodging attacks and killing BAMs but in GW2 even a bit harder mob beats me. (strife around don’t work always get hit)

  Go greatsword/rifle and you’ll never die. The key is put 4 vulnerability on a foe, then use the coast/twirl move to blast through them (while dodging) for high damage, and finish with the flurry attack. You pretty much won’t die. Healing signet and traiting 15 in defense can get you a “regeneration based on adrenaline level” as well.

  Make sure you’re getting some toughness on your gear as well. Even though Warriors generally have awesome toughness and vitality scaling, if you build to be a glass cannon, you’ll be exactly that.

My main problem is that you have the look of the armor be the same across different races and professions. Any 2 Light weight look the same from the same collection. I dont like that. A necro shouldnt be looking the same as an Ele just because they both wear light armor.

WoW must have spoiled me, none of these armor sets look particularly appealing to me. I have not done any dungeons in the game and I can’t think of a single reason why I ever would. I am hoping the coming months bring updates with interesting content

  Go look at WoW tiers again… 90-95% of the armor is crap. There is a reason most of the transmuted armor you see in the capitals is from TBC t5 or t6.

I went in game to see what the Shaman Reward set looked like on my lvl 20 female Norn ranger but when I got to the vendor the set he had looked nothing like the set shown here. Can anyone tell me why that is? I assume Richie wouldn’t give us the wrong info so I figure I’m doing something wrong.

The GW2 wiki says the set is sold by Officer Varos in Lion’s Arch, am I at the wrong vendor? Is it because I’m not the right level yet?
